Haven't been near them yet but looked at kia carens, new passat and touran today, and my view is, you're paying a hell of a lot for a VW badge!! No better quality at least internally or on the surface and to get a similar spec. you're looking another at £15k+ more for a VW. Mentalness.

15 reg. Kia Carens ordered...

Won't be any cheaper in the short term compared to what I've been fekin around with, but the instant 'release' is priceless.

For example, I've just diagnosed that the rear diff in the allroad is minced, last night, after another long drive, £100 for an unknown entity off of ebay and a day off work to fit it, just not worth it.

They've given me £1500 trade in for the allroad, and I can take the A5 wheels off and sell them for about £400 with the new tyres, so essentially getting £1900 for an allroad with many, many future problems is as good a deal as I'll ever get.

The best thing for me is being able to choose to work on the old 100s, when I have the time and inclination. And the 100 turbo avant is far, far, far, far, more deserving of my time than the biturnip allroad.

Anyway, I'll still be here unfortunately, but talking about type 44s, not whether to buy a new car or not!!!!!!

The new tin can kid bus (with timing chain, more torque than the allroad, and 60mpg) will look like this.

Thank ****, its over.

Sensible decision! Wish I was bit more capable of that. AND.....IMHO at least, it looks a very pretty car.

Well maybe pretty is not the right word, but lets just say it looks great!!

Wishing you many happy and safe miles in your new car!!

Thanks It won't have those 'boy racer' wheels, but some kind of alloys... but to be honest I don't really care wat the wheels look like, as, as they say, you only live once.

Off (back) to work now. Better go make some money.

Bet that feels like a proper release of stress and weight from your shoulders.

Be wary of Kia's though as they all seem to have an issue of erratic braking for no known reason. Usually with microsecond taps along a perfectly good, unobstructed portion of road (or maybe it's the drivers :P )

Aye, I'll look into that.. or maybe not. ignorance is bliss. But with a waranty, it'll be going back if anything goes awry. (Allroad brake don't work at all, for an unknown reason, irratically, which is dangerous given the momentum I tend to build up!)

Three years servicing for £99, £1k off list price, and £500 more than the list price for the allroad, they're going to stick it into the auction in Beith, and expect £800-£1000, if they're lucky. (They'll get £500 for it.)

(And I've told her to get her ass back out to work to help me.)

Right.., what does the 100t need for an MOT..

You may have read and seen in the news just yesterday about the 100+ car pile up at Incheon near Seoul.

Have a look at this youtube clip, how many airbags do you see deployed?

That looks nasty, the same thing happened here in the uk just yesterday I think. Airbags could have been cut out by the emergency services??

If you look at the maintenance schedule of the C5 A6 I've been driving, ALL of the airbags are due to be replaced at 15years of age I think. Any guarantee that an old airbag will work either? Wouldn't do it but I wonder how much audi would charge to replace them with new.

And the other projects here don't bear thinking about.
