had the same issue on a my 1st kg 200q, it was the big relay,,,43 stamped on i think, and on the later cars if the battery is disconnected, then reconnected the ac head unit goes straight to auto mode , so the fan is running on 1st speed , usually the 43 relay will make the fan run at full speed ie cooling, rather than ac speeds, which are slower, good luck with the fix

I await Groomus's surgery and prognosis
weird..thats what happened to me...it came on as soon as i put a new battery in..mines been off the road for 3 years too....but i dont have a.c.

anyway.. its the least of my troubles for now..!!

first...inlet manifold off..for new injector lines..
then... new brakes.. in the literal sense of the word...including bomb
then......
everything else...!!
tailgate struts...
get the heater blower....well.....blowing..when i want it to..!
get the rad. fan......to go off..when i want it to..
re-align a door...which is currently acting as an air-brake..!
bulbs...left right and centre.....
then...
(trying to remember what the auto-check is telling me)
oil pressure switches..!! at least thats what the computer from beyond the grave is telling me..
temp sensors and thermostat..
then..
a little blow in the exhaust to 'mig up'..and a rattle in the back box..(not sure if its just hitting a heat shield or if the baffles are loose)..
strut top bearings.....
and gawd knows what ill find or break while im doing all this shit..!
i think ill stop now..!! starting to get depresed..!!
and
you wont believe me but ive already done two thirds of what the car needed when i got it..!!
but....it was free so thats what you get..!!!

Hi Chris!

What year was your first car?
Was it around the 84 build spec time like mine??

Duncan, may I suggest http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk for all your struttus requirements matey?
Will (1986audicoupe) used them for bonnet struts for mine.Very reasonable they are too.

Steve

No problem mate.

Hey and thanks to you all on this thread.

Thanks to you guys,my Turbus is now running her fanny whenever she should.

I took out the After-Run Temp Sender, the MFTS and also the Idle one while I was there.
All sensors were filthy on the engine side, and the contact side.
I was about to buy new sensors too.
Im really glad I had 4 Volvo 480 Turbos at once, until Gelbus. They were loaded to the hilt with sensors and electrics.Audis are lasting well so far.

Big thanks to Mike with the Part Numbers too.
Mike,if you dont mind,I shall now christen you Etkus.I know you're the Oracle on Fans, hope you dont mind three names.heheeeeee

I did the same about 6 months ago. I changed all of my sensors on my coolant flange.
