Hi Guys, update on 1991 Audi 90 quattro, engine now running, Cat missing, so need to fabricate pipe work between down pipe and exhaust system, front end needs to go back on and full dash needs refitted, car will be moved under its own steam this weekend and will be up on 2 post hoist for access to exhaust and bleeding of full braking system.

Good to hear Colin, even if it was destined to have 20 valves !?
When you say "fabricate pipework" I'm thinking you're not fitting a cat?

Just an update from today's work, car now on 2 post lift, I have had time to look round underneath the car and not too bad, front wish bone bushes are a little soft, rear bush on diff needs replacing, not knocking just really soft, fuel lines will need to be replaced as soon as I can, rear subframe needs some TLC due to rush, ok just now but it's not going to get better, exhaust will be done tomorrow and lambda bung will be fitted at same time, then bleeding brakes and front end back on, photos to follow.

Did you say you might put a 7A in it, or are you keeping the NG?

Hi James, fitting a 20v 7A into NG engined 90 quattro, the last owner of the car had that in mind.
For some time now a couple of guys on the form had known where this car came from and to be honest, I was not comfortable at disclosing who owned the car previously, until now, due to the timeline of events that happened for myself to become the next owner.
Sadly, I lost a very old friend in May of this year, Mike Dewar (MIKE2) on the forum, he died from a heart attack working on this very car and was found in his pit below the car, after his funeral all went quiet, his family, from Glasgow, as I believe it had no interest in his cars, I was asked on the form if I knew where, or what had happened to his cars, but the answer was not a clue, that all changed one morning when I received a call from friend that knew Mike and his cars, just after 9am, he had spotted one of Mikes cars and noticed the name of the seller, I believe this was on Facebook, the car was for sale with many many spares in a local recovery garage some 6 miles from me, after a quick phone call a visit was arranged and around 10am the same day, a handshake was made on the car and the spares.
Mike had most of the parts if not all to convert the car from a 10v NG to 20v 7A, and had started the work, at the time of purchase the car had only the back seats fitted in it, front seats, dash, front end, NG engine and 10v wiring loom had been removed and the 20v engine wiring loom already fitted with just the 20v 7A engine to be fitted.
To be honest I thought the car would be a better seller if it was original with the 10v NG engine (less paper work), so Mikes plans were reversed, with the 10v wiring loom refitted and engine back in the engine bay, it now runs, the dash is still like a spider's web of wires, but it moves under its own steam, it's been a bit of a challenge due to the fact that I never worked on or owned a NG engine car and had to find all the part for the 90 quattro in boxes of spares from many cars, but the basic 5 cylinder knowledge that I have has helped.
As for his other car, 911 Porsche sold for a song, his other Audi, still no clue, but they will turn up at some point.
Will the car be for sale, not at this point in time, I think I will hold onto it for now.

Well said Colin and it's good you now own this car.

Regarding Mike's 90 quattro sport, I believe it will be in good hands and yes it will appear at some point.

Nicely put Colin.

I got to know Mike a little through these forums and remember him from the Audifans days. Was so sad to hear of his passing. My car wouldn't be where it is without his help; directly and because of his contributions to the community over the years.

I'm glad that one of his cars has ended up in good hands. Mike will be pleased to see that too.
