I agree if it's mint then restore but if it needs work then "upgrade" time in my opinion. F

I'm quite torn on this one - there was a time when i would have said keep it all original - the 100s is a beautiful coupe, but after seeing a lot of projects on here the appeal of having the power to match the looks is a very tempting proposition.
So i'm gonna say B - keep it subtle - the body and interior kept as standard as possible - but play away with a modern power plant of your choice and maybe even quattro drivetrain (i think it's been done before?) and have the best of both worlds

I think whatever car you own you should mod it with your own taste, after all its YOUR car and should not be influenced by current trends or how other people woul like it to be

Funnily enough, i like this more than the orange one. Maybe not the paintwork but the bodykit i prefer, if your going for a more modern look i mean.

Hello,
I think there is no any YES or NO choice, in such question... Personaly speaking I find both ANSWERS interesting ... I have followed both SOLUTIONS to these BABES and I have to admit that each solution has its advantages and disadvantages...
The original restoration is quite good experience and a procedure that when you will have come to the end of it, you will drive a very -head turner- nice historical Audi car with a good reliability (depends on the the restoration standards...). This is also recommended to someone who does't like the stress and the problems should overcome to any modification... Just count the money in your pocket (To find some of the Coupe S new spare parts are like to have won the JACK pot!), follow all the restoration procedure -BY THE BOOK- and... voila!
On the other hand, the custom made re-building has more fun, has more problems to overcome (depends how radical your Modification will be) and finaly the result may not be the car you had in mind to CREATE... Such long or short JOURNEY to custom made -unique- modificated or MUTTANT project cars, many times hides many obstacles that you cannot calculated from the beginning...
But, I need to know firstly what you have on mind, in case of the modificated VERSION... To build an everyday drive -street legal- with 100% reliability, to build a show car -no matter street legal or outlaw project- or to build a race car?

My experience on such rstorations or custom made re-buiidings on this specific car ONLY is quite ...wide, and I can help you find the proper and the more matching - to your lifestyle- solution you will choose...

My orange Coupe S1 quattro is my everyday drive, is fully street legal -according to the Greek transporation dept. rules- and I drove speedy (254 top speed on the GPS device is saved, 5.0 sec 0-100km (but it was loaded with gasoline and all of our luggages) last week 4.000km from Thessaloniki, Greece to Nuerburgring, Germany and back home (in a week) without any problem... Inside "Nordschleife" under wet conditions was quite accurate and behaved almost as a race car...

My red 71er Coupe S is under original specs restoration procedure...

More photos or videos you can find on the www.audivirus.blogspot.com

Regards from cloudy Macedonia, Greece,
Theo
