Default how many of these cars were in the UK ?

I rang up Audi UK and got some real dozy bird, who could not tell me, nor tell me who can tell her or tell me anything about the B1 Audi 80 ..........so does anybody know

Have seen some German websites showing photos of some cars, but could,nt find a way to translate it to English

Think I might have resort to buying brochures etc

Buying old brochures is a good source for finding out what models were released in the UK, but figures of how many released are very sketchy for most early Audi models to be honest.

If Audi UK gave a stuff about their heritage instead of trying to fill every outside lane if the UK's motorway system with another A4, then we might be able to get some more info from them!

The B1 were certainly sold in the UK and in reasonable numbers, Like many 1970s cars they were not well protected against rust.
There were certainly GL/GLS and then the GT/GTE version that was a quick car. Please do not consider that it had the Golf GTi engine -- it was the other way around -- the Golf got the Audi engine..... the injected 1.6 was developed by the Audi engineers.

There are at least 2 GT/GTEs in the country, Peter Noad ( writes in Audi Driver) has one and I've seen another, a few years ago , near Bristol, owned by another enthusiast.
As loads of 1980 Audi 80 /Coupe/Quattro parts are NLA you can guess how m,any are likely to be available for a mid 1970s 80.........Audi and their ideas of heritage......
