Yea but like I say, you start there, you could continue with, why do this or why do that to your car, we all do these things cause we can or we want to
And yea, being a mechanic(with lots of vauxhall knowledge), I have understood that it is part of a big plan. Don't get me wrong, the car is no slouch and has made a few faces red, including my mate who has a 120bhp 1.8 vectra! |

OK, back on topic.
Have you fitted a freeer flowing exhaust? Induction kit?

Im of the opinion that people do what they want to a car because they have an affinity for it.
Its not necessarily a case of not bothering because theres a better way, its a challenge and something different. I turbocharged the golfs 1.8 engine (8 valver) because i wanted that difference from what everyone else was doing ( 16 valvers and 1.8t) so the o/p's position is to me at least perfectly understandable. If you think i can help out, shout up. ![]() |

Not to mention about inconvenience of comical filter. Exhaust - have u ever owned car with loud exhaust? I was using my former A80 for 2 months without just rear silencer, because it fall of regularly once in month and I didn't placed it back for a time - never again Even that was too much for comfortable driving outside city. In latvia those, who thinks that it's stylish to drive around with loud car, sometimes got a lesson, when their car is pinstriped or damaged in other way. I think that's ok, after all I think it's normal that some chaps might want to sleep in night. And knowing basic principles of engine operation and the fact that nobody goes to dyno before and after installing straight pipe exhaust, there's doubt if it gives some extra power anyway. |

I fitted an induction kit to mine. Not a cone filter as it is K-Jet. I didn't dyno it before and after but it has not affected the MPG, insurance cost or running when cold. It does sound good, and "seems" (qualitative) to rev easier.

Why fit a different stereo? Or suspension? Because they may well be marginal from the factory! Unservoed Polo brakes anyone? Quote:
One is a consequence of the other and the cubic capacity that youre laughing at makes no difference to that principle. Quote:
Toyotas nearly all have this tuned induction tract but thats not to say it has no room for improvement by using a better filter. Quote:

Straight pipes always are better than silenced ones where powers concerned. F1, indycar, dragsters etc dont use them because mufflers impede flow, usually by restriction, absorbtion or reflection. |
