Yes, that was the year we changed to decimal currency. Dad gave me his old cheque books to draw (not drawer) on. I also remember getting a crystal radio kit as a birthday present from my oldest brother.

No... well, not me. My 5 year old daughter plays football ("soccer") and she seems to notice it on the news and that's about it. I hope to engender in her a total disinterest in this sort of thing. Sure, go and play but don't get all strung up about it.

It's a public holiday here on Monday ('queen's birthday' for f*** sake) so all I've heard at work is how cool it is that they can get up at 03:00 in the morning to watch the first match the Australian team is playing. That and the fact that it's being played in Seth Efrika sums up my total knowledge in the damned thing.

EDIT: I must say that when I was last in the UK (2000), I had the misfortune of trying to have a quiet beer in a pub on the day of the FA Cup final. It was a very quick pint indeed and I ended up going to the airport early and getting on the turps in the QANTAS lounge instead.

Not really a fan of team sports in general. Jocks were a serious annoyance growing up.

When I get the chance I like watching lacross or even hurling (hurley/caman in Irish). Both have a strong martial aspect I appreciate. Rugby is similar, and I think a bit more honest than American "Football" (NFL).
I generally like soccer (football to you) played as a wee lad, but I don't really have any good memories from it. That being said I've seen some really exciting game moments.

I'm not really following the World Cup.

For those not familiar with Hurling......
