Great too meet you as well steve

Got back safe and sound, took a bit longer than expected mainly due to stopping off en-route a few times to check the straps on the A-frame rig, we also stopped at Bird lip to admire the view, bit early in the evening for dogging though.

Have to say the A-frame set up behaved impeccably, I'll have no problems using it again. however I've cooked my front brake pads on the van, they started to smell and sound odd about a mile or so from home, no great disaster, I have some spare on the shelf.

I'm too knackered now to unhitch it in the dark and start assessing parts but I'll get on it straight away in the morning and PM those of you that have asked for stuff at lunch time tomorrow.

The paint code is LY 6T and from cursory inspection all panels look very good apart from the drivers door. The 5 x 112 Aero alloys look pretty good as do the tyres.

Couple of pic's from Bird lip.

I've had a battry on the car and as far as I can tell the blower motor works correctly on all speeds, will double check tomorrow and let you know by PM, postal order will be fine.

The interior is a bit grubby but very tidy otherwise, the carpet is black and will clean up a treat. No drivers seat or headlining and the rear door cards have speakers fitted, unsure if there supposed to be there or not. Boot floor foldy thing looks very tidy as well, as do all the boot trim panels, their all in Black. The indentations on the seats in the pics are from my tools and are not permanent.

I wanted to give it a thorough stream clean so I can assess the panels properly and get it in my workshop (dirty cars are not allowed in) but it's below freezing and will be for a few days so this will have to wait but both front wings and bonnet appear to be very good as do all the other panels apart from the drivers door.

Hi Kit,

The speakers are in the correct place, I think the drivers door dent was caused by the farmer moving it round on a forklift, and might pop out if yuou get behind it.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info Yeah the drivers door is not beyond repair and is at least rust free.

Will have it running properly latter, found out why it was having idle problems, multiple boost/vacuum leaks so nothing scary.

Right best get back out there.

That alarm/immobiliser is a right sod, I've read the instructions and still haven't got it to behave properly seems to have a mind of it's own. Hopefully my new gas soldering iron will arrive tomorrow so I can de-molest the wiring loom. Didn't get quite as much done today as I'd have liked, I share a drive with my parents who started grumbling about my activity's so I had to go and stash my 10V Coupe at a mates place to keep the peace.

The main issue though was the accordion hose from the inter-cooler to throttle body, it's got a huge split in the underside. I've done away with it and the inter-cooler for now, which seems to have sorted things out.

Is that pipe about 4 inches long, and about 2 inches across, black rubber circles, bit like the Michelin Man???

I think I have one of those in my garage, as well as an exhaust manifold (cracked).....(they are under a pile of 100 suspension bits at the moment.....)

I can post the rubber bit if you'd like it? And the exhaust manifold too (but it won't be until the weekend or after).

Can you have a look at how the decat pipe is fitted? If it is bolted to the downpipe flange at the front, and to the exhaust pipe with a clamp at the back, I might be interested.

Also, can you measure the front discs (thickness), and see if they have a part no on them, I might be interested in them for the right price. Also, are the calipers Girling 60? Or single pot?

Cheers

Steve

Yep, that the hose I mean, was the main cause of problems. I'd really appreciate that and the manifold, let me know when you've dug them out and we'll sort some thing out.

I'll check out the stuff you want, though you may have to wait till the weekend as there's 4"s of snow here today and I'm back too work tomorrow. I'll put your name on them for the time being though.
