yes,1997+ they started with the obd plug on all audis,all a4s have obd plugs but they still kept the 2x2 in 80s and early a6s upto 1996

in the fusebox there will be a white and a black plug,you will need an adaptor from obd to 2x2

Maybe someone knows the answer - do B4 NG and C4 AAR ECUs have "fast data" option [is it possible to read with VAG-COM values] or only blink codes like B3/C3 NG/NF?

I have never used vagcom on either but i should think vagcom will work but you will find that there is only a limited amount of information and features that can be used.I know the early 20v 7a engined cars won't work with vagcom but some of the cheap scanners that can be found on ebay work fine.
