As I've put before, be warned that the internals are different depending on what binnacle Audi put in your car, I had a cracked binnacle in my 80Q and tried to replace it with a good one from my spares car, an 80 sport, both cars were built in 91 and registered within a month of each other in early 92. To keep the mileage I tried to swap over the internals but they wouldn't fit, I then tried to swap just the speedo and it was COMPLETELY different and wouldn't fit either. I then stripped the speedo from the good binnacle to adjust the mileage and on trying the speedo didn't work finally I took the binnacle from my B4 16V and put the innards from the 80Q, although the B3/B4 innards are different, the binnacle was the same design having VDO moulded into the plastic under the warning lights and what looks like the same speedo type with the number 893 190 printed on the front .

Top = German B3Q, middle = Japan B3 Sport, bottom = Malaysian B4 16V:

Thomas Wat on the school register............ T.Wat.

Ok small problem in that i dismantled this unit a while back to see how speedo was driven. The box its in has everything bar the geared wheel for odometer movement.... However you can see how it works from this. If i find the gear i'll get a photo and if yours is broken i'll pop it in post for £1....

It's been so well looked after, & in the pass side door shut, I still have the factory bar code label . . .

Just lucky, I was refering to the manufacturing stickers on the back of the clocks, not from where the cars came from, I guess the cars were all made in Germany but for some reason they decided to design different binnacles that look the same for the same model of car

Reason must be very simple - more than one supplier. If there would be more than one supplier for KE-jet, then there wouldn't be a lot of problems...
