tsr for the rods i got a set for 400 quid, i shall have them balanced by a engine shop with the crank etc
you will need rods , you will at some point bend standard rods with that sort of power from a kkk uprated turbo, anything above rs2 size
especially as its apart
the kkk26/27 hybrid will put in 2bar in a flash , thats what bends rods, a garret will put it in more smoothly with less lag and wont make as much"torque"
i ran 350 on standard rods with a 1.8t 20v motor with a garratt turbo other people bent them at 300bhp with kkk from s2
its the torque that bends the and kkk turbos are torque monsters on
ala rs2

200 bhp ideal front wheel drive car power...... little bit of loss of traction but useable
400 hp 4 wheel drive agan a litte bit of traction loss (depending on tyre) good power to make the system work to its pential

you dont need to use the 400 hp all the time...........

I was told you soon get used to the performance and its true. Tend to use 4th now where I would use 3rd before and with this hot weather recently I've noticed the power dropping off confirmed by a 4th geat 50-70 time by the stopwatch dropping from 3secs dead to 3.4secs. As I always intended to overhaul the block at some point I may as well go the whole hog and fit uprated componenets as I intend doing this only once.... 380bhp will be the final figure as after this you start to lose the characteristics of the original 20Vt that I appreciate. And in a series 2 it should be more than enough even for me.
Don't expect this to be done quickly though, The block will be built up gradually during this Winters SORN period, Will then get the head ported properly and swap everything over later in 2010 leaving just the turbo and injectors and matching chipset to be fitted during 2010 SORN period. Unless I win the lottery that is..

20vcqdriver if u want something to build, maybe let's build 2.5 TDI block? It's better designed than petrol R5 block, I know that some guys did it, only I some time ago found old txt from one experienced latvian rallye driver, who some years ago created that way 2.6 10vt for himself, but he said that engine had problems with oil pressure over 4k rpm, so I don't know does engine "2.5 TDI block + 20vt head" have this problem or not.
