hi martc i done this to my quattro ur last year thay are wind back but , the brakes where shot so it was new aero quip hoses all round, 2 new back brake caliber ,new disc all round, new pads all round also new brake fluid all round yes expensive but worth it in the end ,good luck with the job my friend

Hi Martc, i found when i did my flex pipes last year for my MOT that you need to be careful when trying to undo the flex pipe from the copper/metal pipe due to corrosion sometimes you think its turning but infact its twisting the metal pipe and can fracture.In the end i cut the flex pipe off at the bracket being cautious not to damage the end of the metal pipe .
This was just one of my concerns i came across.

1. As mentioned, be careful on initial turning that the pipe doesn't turn with the securing nut, other than thet not a big job, bleeding the brakes afterwards sometimes a pain though.

2. Squeling brakes: try doing a few emergency stops from 70mph. Might be that the pads have got shined up after only light use.

3. As stated only need wind back tool for rear brakes. Once refitted and brake pedal pumped a few times keep the pedal pressed whilst yanking up the handbrake a dozen times to set the adjuster correctly.

Cheers thanks for all of the useful info, especially about pumping the brake pedal and yanking the hand brake and cutting the pipe certainly helped getting the old flexis off. Well glad to say the job is now done and the brakes work and no squeeling Used high temp brake greese this time instead of cooper slip. My rear calipers were also seezed up, now everything appears to working as expected

Nige thanks for the offer of the loan of the wind back took, luckily I had a 12mm allen key so all was good!

All I have to do is get the new bushes put into the anti roll bar, and fingers crossed for the MOT on Saturday
