Unplug the connections, plug back in. I can't remember what is required for the relay off the top of my head.
The number of cars having random relay problems at this age, due to solder joint problems has me looking at these as a possible source.

Not sure how your Coupe's ABS switch is wired up Crossle...
nor how it's wired up in my boy for that matter but if you're able to access the back of the ABS switch by simply taking the instrument housing panel out (rather than taking the whole dash out), well it might be worth checking your ignition switch at the same time to see if it's cracked (depending on location of course!).
Like I said at meet, if it is cracked, it might explain your Coupe not starting without jump leads on Sunday (hot weather causes the crack to expand, thus preventing adequate connection to start the vehicle), and in my case, well it also caused problems with some of the gauges in the instrument panel too.

I think the switch easily comes out- its next to the hazards.

Sorry I forgot to mention that, found the problem caused at the weekend and it was one of those cheap, easy problems that we like best of all! It was an dodgy earth off the battery terminal. It broke down when my mechanic was test driving it yesterday and he went straight to it.

That's good to know/hear Crossle...
so one problem sorted, and , is it two or three things left to go?
You'll get there buddy, just remember, they didnt build Rome in a day, and there's still plenty of time before AITP8 so no need to panic just yet.

Yes thankfully that was an easy one to fix. Trouble I've got this time round is it is my every day car so I cant afford to have it off the road for a month or so while I save up for parts!

The main issue with the car was the sticking brakes and the new master cylinder was fitted yesterday. So far the brakes havent stuck on since the change so hopefully thats main problem sorted but I wont be 100% on that until I've been on a long run with it as they were only sticking when they got some proper heat in them.

Where was the master cylinder sourced from? I have a 90 one on my coupe but I believe it's different to coupe due to load comp valve at rear?
If you're after a run to check it(?!)........ http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...ad.php?t=35399

Lol think I will pass on that run!! Bit of a distance from Northampton!

I was lucky to get it because I called the standard parts type of places and no one had one, most couldnt get one. Euros could get one in, think they wanted around £140 for it. Quattro corner could get one from Germany but that was £190. I was flicking through ebay and I found a breakers had one in good working order so I offered them £50 for it and took it. Its only the half with the reservoir attached thats been changed though, the mechanic said he didnt fancy disconnecting the other half from the brake pedal and the pressure hoses. He said that its only usually the back part you replace anyway so hopefully this is the case and the whole thing didnt need changing
