Ohhhhh dont even get me started!

Barely a day goes by without some knob looking at my 80 and thinking they can show off in front of me.

Pooped up Corsa's and Fiesta drive me potty, but I do like to show them a thing or two sometimes. We have a duel carrageway sort of road, with three sets of lights, and two roundabouts, not to mention its up hill! You can guarentee that someone with come to the side of you when your at the front of the first lane, look at you, then your car, as if to say 'look at the state of that!'.

So it comes naturally, put a bit of power on up the hill and they have no chance!!

I love it at the next set of lights, when they pull in behind you! Or even better.... Come beside you for another shot, as if they havent looked like enough of a pratt already! Then you have two choices, blow them out again, or look as if your going for it, then dont! The latter is what I tend to do, makes me giggle....

Usually I let this sort of thing go though, I feel my car has nothing to prove to anyone, why should we stoop to their petty level.

Its not just old car drivers it happens to though, I think its a widespread thing that people in general drive poorly, and sometimes havent a clue what theyre doing.

Sorry for going on.....

I had an amusing one at our local Morrisons a while ago! A boy racer pulled up in his Saxo (most common thing around!) and he looked at me and revved his pathetic engine with his stupid dustbin exhaust fitted. I looked to my right, gave a slight grin and gently revved my engine, bearing in mind mine sounds half-decent being a 5-pot and has no rear silencer as standard!

Anyway, he then starts revving his car in a twatish manner so what's the best thing for me to do? Open up my exhaust just after the front pipe and give the girl a good blast with no silencers! By this point, he doesn't look very amused, slightly scared infact, by which time the lights have turned green and I've accelerated off into the distance (still with no silencers!)

Chew on that shitty boy racers!

We have similar problems in the States. I'm not sure I'd say there is a marked response towards an older car, unless its clearly a "family" cruiser, a piggy domestic four door favored by the elderly whose ideas of performance peaked in 1960. These blue hairs drive around like they're looking for a golf ball. It's refreshing to see an 60-70 year old with skills. Go grandpa.

Our biggest problems are SUV's. Cow cars driven by cow drivers. When I say cow I mean stupid, herd animal, skittish and deeply lacking in the focus necessary to make the decisions that come up on a roadway. The 2nd part of this pox is these meat movers have such fat arses, you can't see around them.

On some level, Americans recognize and respect an older, desirable car. There are always exceptions to this tho'.

We have a lot of chooches who bought Hondas and think they're Porsches.

My driving rules of thumb.....mirrors, f' ing use them!
Signals.....f' ing use them.
Try to drive in a manner that requires the least amount of adjustment by others.

The last is a good rule of thumb for life. Live and let live. Don't make waves. Take your trash with you.

I drive a 44 ton artic so dont usually get cut up when traffic is merging in turn. I just stand my ground, carry on regardless and wait for the crunch Usually the crunch never happens as the hero trying to bully me off the road has thought better of it and backed off. Ive put people through traffic cones before now though. I dont class myself as a road hog, I just dont like bullies!

I think defensive driving is the key, take a little more road than you need to discourage people trying to squeeze through and push you out of the way. Dont entertain people who want to race, let them get on with it... although there is something to be said by giving saxoboy a damn good drubbing.
