The classic Audi, community, general chat section is all about, 'Talk about anything,' 'a bit like a night out down the pub'.....

Our local pub tends not to talk about 2lt 4pot performance upgrades, it tends to talk about sheep, horses or fast cars, with the odd ramblings into domestic life.

I sincerely apologise for bringing a rambling of domestic life into a car forum...

I promise not to bother again.

Points. He's got a thing for 'em

I remember not so many years ago that I saw Christmas stuff in August. Given a little time, they could span both solstices, and really push Druids into the shadows.

It's interesting to note one of Ian's subject topics is sheep. Interesting. Not surprising

Here's a small irony that always puzzled me-
Being in a Muslim country for a few years, Christmas was just as exciting- not for me; I'm a committed blasphemist. No, it was the locals!
Christmas dinner at a local, very popular restaurant required advance booking.
Halal turkey, I'm sure. I was disappointed at the absence of chipolatas wrapped in bacon.
The build up to Christmas started around October. So a little more restrained.

Religion! Brings out the bizarre in people.

I don't think we've covered sheep or horses on here as yet have we?

I can just see it now, 'Reader's Sheep'

Christmas is all about Bazaar's now, sadly.... My point is just that having kids, (and I know those not lucky enough to actually have, or interact with kids, will find this hard), but our youngest is still innocent enough to believe in tooth fairies and father Christmas, and that being good brings happy times at Christmas.... And it's painful to explain to a seven year old, in probably her last year of naivety of Christmas... (eg, its not her cantankerous old bastard parents who's actually buying her stuff), that its just people trying to take her/our money for some fictitious ancient ramblings/rule book rather than a magical time to look forward to...

So wait, let me get this straight, you're saying Father Christmas and tooth fairies don't exist?

I think the sense of wonder can still be felt. Christ*, we bugger about with old cars based on the same sense of naïveté. Explain to her that she is going to have a moment of clarity.

What ever you do, don't buy her a horse. I suspect a few other naive ideas are going to get a hammering.

The star in Christ*....

Where's the * expansion?

* An expansion or clarification outside of sentence structure....
