Thanks BIGGYIN - that one's just hit my Watch List - a saloon would be preferable though.

I'm waiting for Coxy to send me a link to some photos so haven't seen it yet. Sounds pretty special...

Not bad for £150, eh! He ripped that old guy right off, terrible man that Cox.

Poor old boy!

But on a serious note, I can’t help thinking that I would feel more compelled and obliged to preserve this car than properly use it. It would be perfect as part of a collection but as the number of classic Audis in my collection currently totals zero, perhaps I should be setting my sights at a slightly lower starting point.

I’m curious to know how much gold would temp you to part with it thought Coxy…

A pound for every mile would be money in the bank, unique!

Like you say though, you wouldn't be able to use it. Saying that you can't use money in the bank either For it to be any good you need to spend it on something which is real! Just to keep up with real inflation these days you'd have to be getting 10%+ interest on your bank account!

I think Coxy would be smarter to keep it personally.

Sadly, it was a lot more than that...

It had fallen in to the hands of a local delaer from original owner...

But it was one of those which needed buying as it was never going to happen again (well, until I sell it!)

It's an odd one, too good to use regularly but it's also a shame to lock it away.
I had done a deal with a chap from Ireland last year but I cringed when he said he was going to be using it as a daily driver and told him that I'd changed my mind.
I also had another chap from Ireland who was seriosuly interested, but as it's not 30 years old yet, it meant he'd get stung quite heavily on taxes on it.

To put it in to persepctive and give you some idea of cost, I had advertised it at £5995 and that did create quite a lof of interest, but I would say that probably 90% of the interest came from outside mainland UK.
