I can see how they aren't to everyones taste. But it would suit my 80 sport perfectly. Especially being brown.

I had a VW motorsport one on my mk1 GTI and loved it to bits. £360 however is more like suspension money.

Audi used to charge well over £400 for the standard (later) ur-quattro/Audi 200 wheel.

One day I was grazing at Charlie Perkin's scrapyard at the A43/A14 junction - now I believe a Holiday Inn. I built a pile outside Charlie's office (a shipping container) and asked him how much he wanted.

"Fifty quid!!"

So I went for a final sniff around and found a steering wheel behind the driver's seat of a 1B 200. Perfect - no ring damage, nothing. So I dropped it on the pile and asked Charlie: "How much with the wheel?"

"I ******* TOLD YOU!! FIFTY ******* QUID!!"

So off I went. I cleaned off the other stuff and stacked it in the workshop, and the phone rang. "I'm desperate for a new steering wheel and Audi want over £400!"

So we agreed £200 - it was collected within a couple of hours.

On my way home I called in at Charlie's. I wallked into his office, laid £100 on the desk and said: "Remember that steering wheel?"
