No, he's still got the 6 speed. I didn't know he was thinking of swopping it, perhaps he gets confused with that many gears ?

If you remember the conversation at Oulton Park, Andy mentioned about what gearbox he was using ( was being the correct terminology ) and Adam then realised why Andy's car gets up the road so well. He was apparently 'on the case'!!

The newly extended course at Charmouth last weekend proved a bit if a challenge . The land owner had ignored all the plans and discussions with the hillclimb event organisers / motor clubs and laid the new tarmac how he saw fit.

Now, the road continues further up the hill but narrows dramatically and turns very tightly after the existing fast wide section. There isn't much room on the final corner, which is off camber, on a crest and requires some serious braking and a down change. All adding up to give some big oversteer moments (all recovered fortunately), which a quattro isn't prone to doing normally .

To top it off, he'd laid a soak away along the edge of the corner which we weren't supposed to drive on, so some time penalty cones were placed just on the grass. Andy managed to take out all 3 on one run .

Anyway, it called for some precise driving and should have suited Bob's nimble orange 911 in our class. After the first competitive run on Saturday I trailed him by less than 2 tenths of a second. On the last run I managed to beat him by twelve hundredths and take first place .

Bob couldn't make it on Sunday so we didn't get a rematch . But I kept Andy, the TVR and Nissan 300 at bay again and took first again and beat the previous days time by a reasonable margin, bagging another trophy .

I'll have to get busy packing the exhaust silencer now to get it passed the sound police at ADI .

Quite a few good photos from Charmouth, so I might get a bit carried away here .
