Give him a nudge then Rich, if you aren't going to spill the beans .
Were you chief photographer?

Following the previous nights rain, Castle Combe was very damp when we arrived. It was grey, windy and not very warm but we didn't get anymore rain to speak of.

The wind (not the sun) gradually dried the track through the day but the morning practice runs were a bit tricky . On my first one, the downshift into the second chicane was not quite as smooth as it should have been and the back end started to come around as I turned in right. I caught that but it snapped around the other way very quickly and I went sideways through the floppy markers on the other side . No harm done but it knocked my confidence a bit.

By the afternoon competitive runs the track was virtually dry. I managed to beat my previous best from last year by two and a half seconds . Unfortunately, Andy improved on his previous best by three and half seconds to beat me by 0.1 of a second .

That put us second and third in class, and just under one and a half seconds behind the winning 205 (lots of power and weighs nothing), who we used to trail by at least 4 or 5 seconds. In fact, we must of had him worried because he put his slicks for the second run, which he only does if feels threatened. Maybe we’ll have him next year .

We did beat the supercharged MK2 escort and the stripped out and tuned up B5 Bi-turbo S4, chalk one up for Classic Audi .

A return visit to Gurston this Sunday (17th). Fingers crossed for the weather.

The Ferrari club have been invited again for this meeting. It was only the 430 that beat us last year. We'll have to see what we can do about that this year .

The day started damp then wet and ended up dry .

It was a full entry and our first run up the hill was on a damp course, but dry enough to put in some decent times.
The skies then opened which slowed us down for the second practice runs.
A strong wind dried the course quickly over lunch, although there wasn't quite as much grip as there looked.

Our main competitor in the class with his 600+ bhp Evo started his first afternoon competitve run in third gear which allowed Andy to take the lead with me a couple of hundredths behind in 2nd.

There were a fair few off's with the changeable and drying conditions which put our last competitive runs quite late in the afternoon. I managed to leap frog Andy's first time, who tried a bit too hard and went slower . Roy, in the evo, predictably got his act together and beat both of us by more than a second. Which was a relief, as I didn't really want to hang around even longer to collect a trophy .

We did beat the 11-plate Ferrari 458 Italia though, the car everyone is raving about at the moment .

Well done Tim

I shall try and pop down to Salisbury to catch one of the meets later in the year
