True.
UK tyres leave a lot to be desired as well.
I came out here with Marshall's on Moneypit and they were absolutely crap....had the 'pit side on going up a hill while Mrs Lofty followed behind in a Chevy lumina mini van (think Renault Espace on steroids) with absolutely no slipping/sliding at all on "all season tyres"......that was embarassing.....

Thats probably out West (Alberta and Saskatchwan).....coldest I have experienced in Ontario is minus 28 with a wind chill factor of minus 42........that hurt the face parts that were exposed.......
Stoopidest thing I have done is brush snow off the windscreen with bare hands at minus 18....not clever.....you instantly lose all feeling in them , it hurts like hell and can't get them warmed up again for ages......only done it the once though.........
Had the pleasure of changing the drive belt on one of the wife's Pub kitchen exhaust extractor fans in minus 20.....that was feckin awful and not an experience I wanna repeat in a hurry !

I,ll ask her tomorrow where her Mum lives??
Us Brits moan, but we are just not use to cold weather. It,s also a damp cold here,if you know what I mean?
When I was at Mont-Blanc,it was a dry cold.A little more bearable.
