Glenmorangie Signet, a specific 10 year Malt blended with some of their 35 yr stock.
Sweet, chocalate, coffee and cereal undertones. Very unique, almost a dessert whisky.
Might just be worth the ducats despite the lack of true vintaging on the bottle.

$150 in the US.

I had this on February 2007, so I'm refering to the notes in my tasting book.

Ahh a fellow whiskey drinker!!
The Penderyn Distillery is about a 30 min drive away up in the brecon beacons (where men are men and sheep are scared.......), went up with a couple of mates for a tour, and a couple of tasters. Excellent!!
Bought my father a masterclass tour of the distillery for his birthday last year and he loved it!!, you get shown round by the head distiller and shown how to taste etc properly!!
It's about £30 a bottle here in gods own country- hate to think what it costs on your side of the pond!!
Another favourite of mine is Jamesons 12, Irish whiskey, very nice

Great thread!!

Had a glass of Penderyn yesterday as my night time tipple!

Managed to pick up a bottle of Glenmorangie 18 year old rare malt yesterday
http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-2464.aspx

Haven't opened it yet but will do tomorrow night.
Picked it up from our local off-licence who obviously don't have much of a clue about prices as let's just say, it was very much a bargain for me!

Came across Penderyn 3 years ago, maybe a little less.
The mainline Single we get in the US might be in my top 10 for the price point.

Received a bottle of Glenlivet Archive 21yr old from a good friend for Christmas (Belated)

A very nice, refined example of the Glenlivet line.

Nose : Similar, as is the flavor, only a little more intense.
Color: Amber
Flavor: Oak predominant, nutty, and a little spicy. Dryish.

For the price point ($125-150 USD)I prefer their French Oak or the Cask Strength Nadurra.
Still a hell of a gift, I got to share it with 6-7 friends at New Years, and we're all pretty much in agreement.

I also received a bottle of Kilkerran Single Malt, a new offering from Glengyle Distillery.
This is a brand new Whisky (5 years old) initially released in May of 2009 as part of a "WORK IN PROGRESS" for them. They intend to release batches in incriments until 12 years.

http://www.kilkerran.com/

Color:Straw or piss colored
Nose:Light peat and smoke predominant, marshmellow at the back
Flavor: New taste, light but evident peat (Islay like), faint cereal and floral qualities.
Stealthy?

Seems like a young Islay masquerading as a Speyside, I look forward to following further progressions of bottlings. Islays are not my favorite, but I appreciate the "suggestion" of peat and smoke more and more as my palate develops.

savouring it too much to write about it! Funny you should ask as I have just had a small glass prior to hitting the sack!
It is fairly similar to the Original with a nice essence of vanilla, yet it just seems a whole lot richer and a little more zesty. Definitely one to savour.
