Well I did well to get home tonight in the Passat and 225 baldish tyres. Some helpful people in burton helped push the old beast up the hill after the guy in front stopped for some reason and once I'd lost momentum I was stuck. No salt anywhere so all the roads were sheet ice. Even on the level it was taking forever to get going but made it back in 2 hours, normally 25 mins, sliding everywhere watching several people panic and ram the kerb. Have to go out in Passat tomorrow to rescue the A4 as Lynn bottled it and left it at work, despite being the one car with proper winter tyres on it...
Then to top it all my daughter had a snow ball fight and smashed the largest double glazed window in the house, so thats another months Cq money down the drain.

Some people have just not driven in bad conditions before.
On the way to train station this morning,I was following a stupid woman. She came up to a junction(at speed)and slammed on,she slid for about 6 foot into main road.Good job there was no one passing.
In the car park there was(another)woman trying to reverse into a parking space. She was reving so much(slipping)I was waiting for her to grip and go through the fence.
I heard on the radio this morning, that a bus in Speke turned over.

Just watched a Civic Type-R go past, fishtailing down the road on purpose. I was just waiting for him slide off into a tree but he didn't oblige!

just taken 1hr 20mins to get home, and it only took me 18 minutes to get to the pub tonight!

M54 closed due to an overturned lorry so had to go via the A41 and A5 and then was nose to tail doing 25mph all the way with a bloody huge artic constantly up my arse!

A few cars made it out to our local V-Dub meet though

The 90 is worse but the on/off clutch action doesn't help & the tyres are needing replaced - side wall damage to 2 of them, lowish tread on the other 2.

Coldest December since 1995 apparently... remember getting my snow driving practice in my first car - a 1985 Honda Accord. That was great in the snow. Looking forward to good weather again, whenever it comes, 2 weeks away at best according to a BBC weatherman.
The front wheel drive 80's vary tremendously in snowy conditions, my first was a 1990 Series 3 1.8 injection with skinny 175 14 inch tyre's and was fantastic in snow. My next was was as Series 4 1.6SE with the wide 10 spoke 15 inch Audi alloys and was not very good at all. Combination of a light front end and very wide tyres I always thought. My current Series 3 16 Valve Sport is very good in snow despite the same section tyres as the the 1.6, it is heavier at the front because of the heavier engine and I always drop the tyre pressures to around 22 psi on the front tyres in heavy snow like today.
