Hiya guys,
I've got a really interesting one for you here, i've been batteling with a problem for just over 2 years now, i usually love a challenge and very rarely give up on anything but now i'm at a complete loss with my Audi 200 TQ, 1B 10V... Just over 2 years ago, whilst overtaking someone, 3rd gear i think, there was a huge woooosh and i lost all power. I cruised 300 yards to the nearest layby and popped the bonet, to my suprise the +ve hose on the turbo had popped off. I reattached it and tightened the hose clamp and carried on. However, since then the engine has just felt...lazy. I used to short shift 2nd and again into 3rd and then floor the gas, just as it hit 3000 rpm it would nail you in the seat and keep pulling all the way. It just doesn't have that effect anymore... It picks up a bit at about 4000rpm but still no way near what it used to be. I first thought i had a boost leak, stripped all the hoses and over a couple of weeks, changed them all. No difference. My next thought was that it had damaged the turbo somehow. A month or two later a brand new turbo arrived from 034 motor sport. Fitted it, No difference. I've also changed the exhaust, intercooler, head off and reground the valves, dissy, plugs, leads etc etc... I suppose i'm really asking what could have been damaged when the boost hose popped off at full boost !? Has anyone any ideas what i can look at next, i'm pulling my hair out!!! Many thanks Dave |

Dave, What type of fuelling system is your car running? the reason I ask is that Baron2211 was telling me about a guy who got fed up with his K-jet problems and installed EFI, is this you?
If you are still running the K-jet, maybe the massive airflow when the pipe popped off could have damaged/ bent something in the air flow meter, only an idea but it looks like youv'e tried most of the obvious. If you are the EFI guy, what kind of ecu are you using and what can it tell you in the way of fault codes and or live data, I've found that the live data (while someone else drives) can sometimes be more usefull than fault codes in diagnosing arkward problems. |

Hiya Guys thanks for your replys,
Spink: I remember pulling the codes some time ago and didn't find anything untoward, but i will pull them again to double check. Woodsman: Yeah that'd be me!! Its running a MegaSquirt ECU in fuel only mode at the moment. The original ECU is still running ignition. Yes you can look at the live data but i don't know how useful it would be... To be honest when the problems started it was still using the K-Jetronic.Many thanks Dave |

it sounds like the WOT switch may have failed.
Are you still using it with the Megasquirt setup

Dave, if yours is like mine the WOT switch is needed to pull the codes, which rules that out.
However, have you checked that the enrichment valve which sits in the vacuum/pressure pipe to the warm up regulator is working (located next to the coil) Bart Simpson has a similar problem / Thread, I think we all need to help each other with this one mine is really starting to piss me off ![]() RE the IAT sensor, how do you run 2 ecu's from it or have you fitted a seperate one? Also in "classic audi chat" is my thread about how many 200's left, please feel free to add yours |

The WOT switch can still fail, without producing a code

Is this the 'FABELED' n75 VALVE - waste gate actuator? (for some reason VW call it a dumpvale on their packaging....) They can fail, and the O.E VAG ones are pretty basic, a dyaphram in a box basicly (SP) lol If these's only a small split in the rubber it'll still work to a certain degree, or at least enough not to flash up a fault code. A suden serge of boost that'd cause one of the pipes to come off could easly have split a 25 year old dyaphram tbh ![]()

There is no 'dump valve' on the 10v turbo engine
