When stranded road-side on Sunday I found my distributor rotor had disintegrated –*the metal conductor had come away from the red plastic main bit. I managed to wedge the conductor back in place with a bit of parking ticket to get the car back to to its house.
So now I've got a new rotor –*how does the old one come off? It seems to be on incredibly firmly, and I don't want to wreck the dizzy just to get the old rotor off. Is there a trick to this usually simply task? |

AFAIK, just pull up the old rotor!
If it is FUBAR, and you have a new one, you can break up the old (brittle) plastic with a pair of pliers etc to aid removal. I'd put some paper around the area first to prevent broken plastic falling where it shouldn't! HTH

Thanks for that. Presumably there's a detent or notch or something to ensure the rotor is correctly orientated on the shaft? (Have never before done this on an Audi)

bit late to the conversation here but on my 7A audi 90 engine the original rotor arm was glued on at the factory !
