Incidentally, My space saver went missing many years ago. I can't even think where it went. I've been keeping a full size spare for so long now.

Me too, lost my space saver?
Just bought a full size spare, don’t know why I bothered, I’ve never had a puncture ![]() ![]()

I’ve never used the Ur space saver on the Ur, but after converting the rally car to 5-lug, several months later I burst the front left tyre in a pothole. Of course the space saver was the old 4 bolt, so the better half rescued me with the Ur, a trolley jack and a foot pump.... Because naturally the Ur space saver had 10psi in it.... And being a front damaged, it was a ‘double swap’. Oh the joys of car ownership.

Received the space saver yesterday. Marked GM and hand written Vauxhall.
5 stud with identical stud pattern-test fitted it Tye is identical size to standard as above. Fits in boot and does save space, but not much as it needs to be placed in same orientation as full size. Space behind it though. The smaller one -125/70-fits against the side of the boot, so is probably preferred size for local trips with any shopping etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just a thought - are the bolt seats on the Vauxhall wheel the same, i.e. radiused & not tapered?

Another reason to carry full size on long trips and smaller one for locals though. I would be happy to use the “wrong” bolt seat tightened right up to get back from Sainsbury’s, but not a longer trip. I now have Dunlop 215’s on, it feels marginally different to the Toyo 225’s which are definitely wider…and taller but have a very similar footprint.

Ah!! A genius move!
And nOw you mention it I think I have some, which were the wrong ones fitted to a car I bought. I bought the correct ones but kept the other profiled ones. Might check that out later. Only need to carry five in case of needing to swap the one wheel.

A small side project that I’ve been intending to do for a while now, is to better utilise the cavity in the full size spare.
I generally carry some basic tools and supplies along with the standard stuff. The additions being Brake fluid, Engine oil, washer fluid, antifreeze. socket rail with certain standard sizes, a couple ratchets, a breaker bar. Rags. Most of the tools would fit in a small tool box which was nearly a perfect fit for the right side well in the boot. Sadly, that all went missing when the car was in for restoration. So the plan I have now (for about a decade, actually) is to make my own foam tool tray like those that fit in spare wheels under boot floors where they have them. At least that way, the cavity is not entirely wasted space. Whether I’ll adapt an existing one, or fabricate using a liner and expanding foam is not yet clear.
