Default Brake Servo Vacuum Pipe

Good evening all,

Long shot here.... Looking for a brake servo vacuum pipe for a RHD 1985 Audi 80 4-cylinder carb engine (DS), as per the picture below (Top item);

Anyone have one lying around by any chance?

Brgds,

Simon

I might have something from one of the various cars I've broken over the years, got a box full of servo pipes, will have a rummage this week, I'm not that hopeful though as I've not broken any Carb engine Audi's. Done plenty of VW's but their transverse so I can't see one from anything other than a B2 Passat being the same.

I don't think it would be too difficult to make something up. Have you got the old pipe to use as a template?

That's kinda what I was thinking, going to see if I've got something that looks close that could be cut and made to fit. Swapping the fittings is a bit tricky but if you use the sink of very hot water method to soften the plastic up it'd doable.

Thanks for looking guys, much appreciated.

I have been investigating making a new one as it happens, I can find a replacement one way valve which looks the same as above, and I can also get a new grommet for the brake servo, the bit I’m struggling with is the end of the pipe that goes into the servo.

I’m assuming this is just a push fit into the servo grommet?

If I can get that part I may be able to make a new one from scratch, I just don’t want to rip my original to pieces just in case, I’d like to keep that as is because I’m not even 100% sure there’s anything wrong with it.

What’s wrong with your current one? The oneway valves are generic VAG parts, I’m sure I’ve got an old servo pipe with fitting on the end to locate into the vacuum reservoir.

Well I’m chasing down a potential vacuum leak as I have an intermittent rough idle that is driving me mental.

I’ve changed the first section of pipe as I discovered it was splitting with age and it seems to have made a slight improvement, but I cannot tell if the rest of the pipe is good as it’s covered in fabric/material.

Everything else on the car has been checked/changed so it’s the last thing I can think of.

Can you wrap it in plastic so it is sealed at both ends and see if that fixes the idle?
If so, then replace. If not, Move along…

Good advice.

Or you could remove it and bung one end and blow into it to see if it leaks anywhere, then remove the bung and try from the other direction, if it's air tight then it's not the problem.

I do have an old MK2 Golf 16V pipe you could probably use at a push.

Have you checked where the oil breather pipe meets in the inlet boot? This is a weak spot and very often the cause of K-Jet air leak problems.
