Thanks for the pointer. I'm going for a drive / pulling the codes this afternoon so we'll see what transpires. Presumably if it does turn out to be the knock sensor Pete can supply the bolt too.

Right, it's showing 2322, air inlet temperature sender. Let's have a look at that. Pretty sure they're NLA

The wires to sensor are notoriously dodgy, I soldered mine in place some years ago.

The connections look fine ie it's firmly attached to the harness and it *looks* fine internally. Phil's instructions for checking the resistance are a bit hazy –*I don't want to break it off just to check that the resistance is in range, and presume you can't measure it in situ?
Pete Reeve says the senders haven't been avaiable for years so unless there's some other fault in the wiring I could be of the road for want of a little sender. ![]() |

same for me. I crimped some miniature spade terminals on to the wires which worked for several years with no issues
They possibly got disturbed when the front end was apart.

Mine is pretty well secured to the harness. Is this part –*035 905 379 B –*the same as the one fitted to the RR?

That's not the correct part for the MB.
MB uses 034 905 379 B which is used on all 20v turbo engines as well as 100/200 MC, 1B and 2B 10v and the V8. Hasn't been available for a while now

Will 035 905 379 C do the job?
(In that last post I meant to type '034 905 379B' but had too many pics up on the screen...) |

When i last checked, i think they were the same thermistor (035905379C and 034905379B).
I checked mine by removing the unit from the intercooler and metering across the actual component in it's holder. This showed no problem, the reading was around 500 ohms as i recall. |

Was this with it still connected to the loom, and just measuing across the tiny 'bulb' sensor itself?
