Coxy , I have not had or even seen Tormore. What does the bottle look like? They seem to be Highland/Speyside on my map.

Lasanta is very nice, it replaced the "Sherry Finish", like the Quinta Ruban which replaced the "Port Finish". Glenmorangie was bought sometime last year. I still have a bottle of the old style Port Finish , a long standing favorite subtley different than the Ruban.

Tell me about the flavor characteristics of the Tormore.

Never really got much of a taste for Scotch myself, probably due to the difficulty in finding a good one over here...
What I do love though, is Jack Daniels "Gentleman Jack" as an everyday drop, and J.D's "Single Barrel" as a slightly more refined sipping whiskey - just perfect neat

JD"s Single Barrel is very respectable. Smooth, without going soft.

Have you ever seen Basil Hayden Bourbon in the Z? My absolute fav.

What is available for Scotch's over there (NZ) ?

Coxy I went to the Tormore link. Now I'm intrigued. I shall check and see if any of our distributors can get a bottle.

I'm not a big fan of whisky either myself, but the only whisky i've ever managed to drink without chundering was Laphroaig 10 year old, with ice.

Don't get me started on Whisky, the water of life, its my one vice.. I'm a big fan of the islay malts, although I can no longer afford the decent bottles of Ardbeg anymore, I'm curently enjoying a few others.

Was never a great Bourbon fan, until a trip to DC last year where me and a bourbon fan friend spent more than our airfare on PappyVanWinkles Family Reserve.. oh my god.. I also have a bottle of Four Roses at home..

My old watering hole had a brilliant top-shelf only bottlestore - many beautiful whiskeys, a lot of obscure liqueurs and decent beers from around the world... sadly the establishment changed hands and it turned into a regular bottlestore with a very average selection

Most of the usual suspects are available over here - usually as soon as you say Scotch, someone pulls a bottle of Glenmorangie out though... not quite my drop.

Vodkas on the otherhand, are plentiful here... people are getting more adventurous - Smirnoff is finally being shunned in favour of some interesting imported bottles

I like Auchentoshan. The variety I had was the 3 wood finish. Fruit and floral undertones.
I gave it an A minus.
