Default WR new plugs and leads now poor running

It's about time for a service , so got some new spark plugs (still waiting for distributor cap and rotor arm) and as a special treat purchased a Beru spark plug lead pack (including coil lead ) from 034 Motorsport as old leads are now 31 years old.
Thought I would change the plugs and leads today and do the dizzy cap and rotor arm when they turn up.
So done the change and now the car runs like a sack of sh#t.
Wouldn't idle and won't accelerate properly. It feels like it's being choked , bubbling away but unable to break free (if that makes sense) ?
Was running ok before the change so I thought it might be faulty leads so put old ones back on ,still the problem , so changed the spark plugs back as well and it's still running crap.
There is a whiff of petrol and it's smoking out the exhaust.
Ideas please ?

Lofty,

I suspect the problem may be with your dizzy. Replacing the leads may have affected something with in it, hence the reason why replacing your old leads and plugs didn't fix the problem. Check dizzy o-ring or if any wires etc have been accidentally disturbed while you were working on the car too. It's all I can think of mate.

If it isn't firing sequence, then is it possible that you've disturbed one of the other connections that are easy to do.

Hall sensor connection (dizzy) and inlet temp sense being two that come to mind.

It was firing sequence which I embarrassingly repeated when I put the old ones back on....doh !
All sorted.
Thanx for replies Gents.
