Red face Mounting Mudflaps

Hi Guys,
How do you all mount your mudflaps to the car? I have just bought some and they are meant to be drilled and screw to the metal return flap in the arches, but not over keen in doing that because of the metal rushing where the screws are drilled.
Am I just paranoid?

Some go on with metal clips, they are worse than self tappers, you can take them off every year to make sure all is well with the self tappers

Forgot to say, my fronts were clipped on and it just got bad behind them.

All rust on all of my cars is caused by mudflaps. All different kinds of mudflaps, all rusting the wings. No mudflaps cars here, no rust on them.

So you remove them once a year to check the state of the metal?

I was hoping to fit them to stop the muck going up the side of the car and making it look crappy. But if they cause rust I will think twice.

Yep easy peasy and no rust, clean the flaps and arches at the same time.

How is the rust on your cars caused by mudflaps then if you have none.
