It's not easy when you keep going up blind alleys with a car problem,I know if I had been in your boat, my patience and knowledge and funds for that matter aren't bottomless & if someone comes along with a "good" offer at the that very moment , it would be difficult not to accept.
That said at least you've owned & enjoyed it for quite a while and hopefully moved on to something else just as enjoyable ...

Do you still have the 80?

Yep, got 17 years out of it Good memories. But it let us down and was costing a fortune. Sadly I'm no mechanic otherwise I could have fixed it up myself. When you have to fork out for labour as well as parts the bills really mount up. And to add to the woes when it was in for maintenance it would always be gone for a couple of weeks whilst my trusty VW/Audi specialist sourced parts that are almost impossible to find! I spent a fortune on rental cars

So now as my signature suggests I've gone electric with a BMW i3 and a Tesla. The BMW is fun to drive, but the Tesla is in a different league And neither of them need 'traditional' servicing

But I'll always be a classic Audi enthusiast. But now I can enjoy seeing them at the shows without all the crap that goes with owning one It'll be like being a grandparent - at the end of the day I hand the children back and the parents get all the problems
