Having a few teething problems. Clutch feels like it needs bleeding again (what a pain it is to do that!) it's biting right on the floor and feels like it's dragging a bit. Possibly related; once the engines hot it's not sometimes possible to get it in gear at all. I had to set off in third before, luckily car was pointing downhill! Seems ok when engines stopped, which seems to tie in with it being a clutch issue
Also the idle cutoff seems very severe, any ideas why that might be? Very annoying in stop-start traffic! Last edited by PoloGaz; 26-03-15 at 06:47 PM. |

Hi, My winter project is to fit a 7A 20v into my B2 Audi Coupe 2.2 GT (KV), how did you connect your rev counter, the coupe rev counter is wired from the negative side of the coil (black / red / yellow wire) this also connects to the fuel pump relay and the oil pressure warning system.

I wired it to the same place on the 7a ignition coil. Simples! I can get a pic if you need one, but might take me a few days an I'm not where the car is at the moment

Is the coil on your 7A the small square type with the amplifying box bolted to the same bracket

Yeah the coil low tension terminals are two screws exposed on top of the amp so you can attach a feed to one of them it's the smaller diameter of the two screws that's negative if I remember right

When you get a chance can you post a photo of the coil, I will start a new post as soon as I can with photo of my own install.
Many Thanks. |

Hi Again,
7A engine is in the car now but can't get a spark, the pin in the front of the fly wheel I am happy with but for some odd reason the KV flywheel starter ring gear has a different part number from the 7A flywheel starter ring gear, I have used the KV flywheel due to using the original coupe gearbox, did you swap the starter ring gear from the 7A flywheel to the KV flywheel ? The KV engine dose not have an engine speed sensor that counts the starter ring gear teeth but all the other engines like MB/RR/3B/NM/7A that have the second sensor fitted to the alloy bracket on the rear left hand side on the engine block use the a different flywheel starter ring gear (035105275E) not as the KV fly starter ring gear (046105275A) Can you confirm what starter ring gear is fitted to your flywheel. Many Thanks Again. |

Sorry that I didn't see this message before. I assume you have sorted this now. Apart from the timing dowel I had installed I did no other mods to the flywheel. I simply counted the number of teeth and was satisfied there were the same number on both flywheels. I used the original 2.0L starter.
I did have trouble starting when the distributor wasn't positioned exactly right. Otherwise I had no issue. |
