That's not right.

The sensors are 1.8 bar and 0.3 bar.

There are two versions of both types.

The diagram is for a 1990 Coupe Crossle...
as I said in my initial post (with 7zap.com link), I wasnt sure if it was the correct diagram as I dont know enough about your Coupe, but if you have a look at the 2nd row/6th column, you'll be able to confirm it is right or not by the 'data model' info that is shown.

Have to admit, I'm a tad confused about a number of things atm:
1. According to the diagram & applicability box, item 16, the oil pressure sender is part number 035 919 561 A - you have it listed as something else which I'm not seeing on the diagram parts list, a typo perhaps ?
2. I know you said that your mechanic had found 'a' leaking switch, but it just seems like he's replacing more than just the oil sender pressure unit and the leaking switch that you need at this point in time, why?
3. Now, about this leaking switch, you said previously that it was above/below the oil pressure switch that was replaced, yes? and yet the part number you've listed, item 14, is in a different area on the engine ?

In any case, something isnt right here, and honestly dont know what else to suggest by way of helping you buddy; other than to maybe recommend the garage that I use as they never seem to have any problems fixing/getting parts for 'my boy', but with a 2-3 week waiting list and in knowing that you want your Coupe ready for AITP8, well doing so isnt really guna help you atm.

Do you know if which one I need for my car, 1.8 or 0.3? I think what ever one I had it was wrong because when we put it on the oil pressure gauge went off the scale and the oil light came on.

Sorry I haven't given correct information. There was never a leaky switch,it's a leaking oil temp sender. Switch wise my car is not as per diagram, it's only got one switch and its the swith marked white switch on the diagram. The switch is at the bottom of the block with sender just above.

I think I have found both parts but can't afford them at the moment, Quattro corner has what I think is right, pressure sender £90 and oil temp sender £45.

Did 30 miles in her tonight and still running lovely while moving but when I stopped the pressure is dropping to 1 bar still. I hold the revs up to stop it dropping but worrying I tried what happened if I just let the pressure dive down with the tick over and a cloud of oil came out the back and it smelt of oil. Wondering this seems a bit terminal to me. As I say I'm no mechanic but what I don't get as it runs lovely from cold and under pressure. It's only when hot and stationary it plays up

The large can shaped sensors are a switch and a sender combined.

So either a 0.3 bar switch and a 1.8 bar can switch / sender or

1.8 bar switch and a 0.3 bar can switch / sender.

based on previous experience you'll likely need the 0.3 bar can switch / sender (035 919 561) and the 1.8 bar switch (056 919 081 E)

You are now running the correct oil ?

I've put 10w40 in it yes. Hasn't made a difference though. Also flushed the coolant but it's still flicking between 1/2 and 3/4 on the water temp gauge so no difference there.

Hot and stationary is always when the oil pressure is going to be at it's lowest.

As long as it's not going below 1 bar at any point I'd say fine, however the clouds out the back and the oil smell are not good signs

Any idea why there would be oil smoke? Surly if the pressure is low then if anything there shouldn't be any oil in there left to burn!

Faulty PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve comes to mind here.

Re the oil pressure problem, on the engines that I work with, we'd start by seeing if the gauge follows the throttle. If it does throughout the whole range, we'd be looking at the pressure relief valve ball not seating correctly, in other words not holding pressure between the design parameters.

The basic mechanism is easy enough, there's wear or a fault that's allowing the oil to go where it shouldn't hence the drop in pressure.
The oil relief ball wouldn't cause smoke, just a drop in pressure. Bore, valve guide, crank bearing wear are the worst case scenarios.
A compression test would be next on my list of things to do.
