There's some very nasty comments belting around , the Scottish refer enders are at it all ready and tbh they would be wise to sit back and see how things pan out as they are on a bit of a sticky wicket really , oils low , the eu has buggered up half their industry do the have to rely on the eu dosh . If they go it alone and rejoin they may have some interesting caveats and miss sturgeon will have to earn her strips ( as well as salmond ) ... It's all very interesting and the future is too

Putting it into perspective for a second, when the ftse opened it crashed by an unprecedented margin, but by the end of the day that 8%odd was down to 2.4% and the closing figure today was UP nearly 1% from just FIVE DAYS AGO. This shows that there was a big gamble made in the city of a narrow win for remain and many saw that as an easy flip of their portfolio - it wasn't. It's also up from the beginning of the year.
This morning wiped £8k of my Stocks and Shares ISA portfolio as opposed to yesterday, but I'm not worried because I'm not a trader, the results I want are long term for my retirement so over the course of that time this little blip in the markets (the last year really) will be only a small adjustment over the long term.

There will be more volatile swings in both directions but short termism isn't part of my outlook, those traders that gambled should suffer for it, that's the problem with people counting their (or someone else's) chickens before they hatch.

The same smugness and now pain is being felt by the EU who really haven't thought the implications of us not falling into line. Heads are rolling, I'm quite looking forward to this uncertainty now, I'm sure we will make the best of it but it's not going to be quick or painless moving forward.

I can also see why the Scots want a referendum on independence based on how they voted for remain (by and large) - they should get it, why should they be denied the same choice?

Default Real Impact?

Whenever someone here talks about the EU, I kind of scratch my head. With so many exceptions and opt outs exercised by the participants on so many aspects, it seems to be little more than a nebulous trade association. Every country still has its own government. NATO is still the military alliance. The benefits of the open borders on travel disappeared (to me) once the terrorists affected air travel. The only time we hear about the EU here is when it complains about some aspect of trade or its time to bail out another member economy. The UK is a great country and I wish you all well.

Yes every country has its own government but it is becoming less of the one making the rules.
The UK was just being used as a handy cash cow in my opinion and once that stops how will the EU continue as Germany can't support the rest of the EU.

I really believe this will be the start of the unravelling of the EU as those unelected 5 just pushed us too far and the people pushed back.

The thing is if we had remained in the EU it wouldn't have been status quo as the EU has large changes afoot or they did have before we voted out.

Another 5 countries want to join the EU with quite frankly economies that arnt worth a toss.

I could seriously see our payments shooting up causing us more heartache.

The local councils are in meltdown internally , their projects and finances are very much intertwined and funded by eu rebates ( this is the wife's area of work )

Personally I dont think we were given enough information by the politicians ,all they were out for was there own personal gain ( both sides ) nobody Knows what the future holds for us as a nation or for the rest of the E.U. but one thing is going to happen the face of British politics has changed for good .The uncertainty is a bit frightening will the E.U spank the U.K. for leaving ? I would say yes the immigration border now will not be France it will be Dover if the migrants get here and we want to send them back where do we send them to ?and at what cost ?

Interesting stuff. I've just been reading the BBC web pages for some semblance of unbiased reporting. It is very interesting that Juncker, the commission president (an interesting title) is the man driving forward with pushing us back over the Channel. This is the man Cameron did not want, an UNELECTED official. Then I hear about multi-millionaire pop stars at Glastonbury (yes you Damien Allbran) saying that democracy has failed us and protests in London about the result. The EU are looking at ways to prevent/dissuade other countries from leaving and want to make it painful for Great Britain to do so.

So our fuel will be more expensive, our parts harder to get and our freedom from that hideous club harder won. But, do we really want to be part of a club that looks increasingly like a dictatorship? The EU may fall apart without GB, it may not. We may sink into the North Atlantic, we may not. We may have awful governments, we may not. But today, I genuinely think that we have brought out the true EU mentality and that we have a modicum more freedom than yesterday. If any of you live in London, you may disagree. In Great Britain, you can! In the EU? I wonder.

We have industries to rebuild, fisheries to reopen (ASAP) and crops to grow on our land when we want and need them.

I'm not a 'jingoist', but I am, justifiably I think, even more wary about the EU.

Such times eh?

I do really hope Westminster understands now how serious it is to act quickly now and start develope fundament for all those industries before international companies and banks start pulling out to EU.
Depending on that I think it will be: or success soon and puond will go back to it's levels before referendum or maybe higher or it's gona be economics back to level of 2009. So I hope they will move them a....es quickly.

The brexiteers promised we'd be awash with cash from the gazillions we send to the EU so it'll be fine, won't it?

Re the border moving back to the UK that was mentioned beforehand but ignored.

I mentioned before that one of the reasons I was against this was the fuel this would give it the SNP, again look what's happening.

Boris said yesterday that the UK was no less United that the day before, for fucks sake, get a grip moron
