Well, given that the car runs fine at present, save for one or two momentary glitches, albeit one of about 1.5hrs where it wouldn't start, I guess something might or might not fail soon.
I'd love to see some documentation the alarm immobiliser setup, and how they interact..

This was at the start of immobilizers being required, easiest way was to just use a spare line on the ecu and just set this up so with out a suitable signal being sent it stops an output signal being sent. Default is the car is ready to start when the ecu is powered and the starter circuit powered then it checks what is going on. The timing isn't important the ecu will shut the engine down by cutting the fuel if a correct signal is not seen by the ecu almost immediately. You can replace the OE. setup of ID13 megamos chip in the key ( the pill thing in the key), RF reader ( the big black ring around the barrel) and the white box with a simple chip in the white box. There are a few tricks that you can use if you get a problem and want to keep an immobilizer.
All next generation cars had in built immobillisers in the dash or ecu with CP coming after that. |

Just noted an error in an earlier post all C4 that are equipped with immobilisers are stand alone, some models have no immobilisers.
All C4 have a stand alone alarms. |

I have to say, from a technical point of view- If I had paid a lot of money for an immobiliser that does that little, I'd be rather disappointed!

From a lean / NVA point of view it does exactly as it says on the tin it immobilises, under its own power the car.
What else would you like an immobiliser to do? Apart from a few newer cars which can lock the wheels as well so truly immobilising the car. |

Do you know what the two part numbers are for the alarm and immobiliser? Looking on the parts catalogues, it's not so easy to find them.

Can't remember the codes as at work. The Alarm is part of the central locking pump unit under the seat V94 is the description code.
The Immo box I can't remember as well J362 is the short code thou. I have dumped all my stuff in the back of the garage. Try 4A0 953 234 as a starter for 10. From your description do you actually have an immobiliser?? I have full wiring diag. with descriptions but would prefer to send them by PM as this is the same setup as RS2. |

Anything would be useful, now.
It is randomly failing to start, and then without any input from me, it will start later, so trying to diagnose it is a pain when I have so little time available. Presumably, I should be able to pull codes from the ECU in a similar way as for my V8s, as it has the 2x2 diagnostic connections. What I don't have is any information on codes/diagnostics.

I haven't had time to do anything much. It fails to start occasionally, totally randomly. So I use one of the other cars. When I get back home, it invariably starts fine making it hard to start fault finding something that isn't currently broken, especially when there are other things to get on with.
Pulling codes on the V8, whether it's currently running or not, is easy. It takes about 15minutes to go through everything.
