No one is playing the girly card here, and nor do I need to man up thanks! No one is disputing whether the job is difficult or not - I simply do not have enough experience/knowledge or the time for that matter (atm) to learn how to replace my boys radiator, as such, I’d rather hand my boy (it’s male, get used to it!) over to someone with the experience to do it! No one has said that I do not trust my local garage, an Audi specialist for 30yrs+! Furthermore, this website is a place to meet like-minded Audi enthusiasts who often share their experiences, good or bad, by way of building friendships and by way of helping each other; hence my asking ‘the guys’ for help/advice and the part number. IMHO your response offers none of this and is yet another attempt at trying to make yourself heard on one of my threads just for the sake of it. Well huni, I’ve heard you and my response this time is this: unless you have something helpful and constructive to say, please kindly refrain from sticking your ore in to my business! – thank you! |

Amanda.
I would not classify swapping out a radiator as basic maintenance. Especially when you get to older cars like these. While the radiator itself is not all that complex, once you encounter seized or terminally rusted bolts, nuts, hose clips, perished bonded mounts, and the simple matter of exposing all the components you need to get to makes the job somewhat more significant than basic. Certainly it's not a half hour job (jeez, it takes 10minutes to make the first cup of essential take.). Add in a lack of working space and you are into some real complications. Swapping spark plugs, wheels, bulbs, fuses, rotor arms, wipers, maybe brake discs/pads. Checking tyres, oil, water, coolant, and lights all working; Those could be practically regarded as basic, and relatively quick jobs.
