Coxy, Aberlour is excellent, definately a favorite Speyside Malt. At the tasting I had the Aberlour "Abunadh" which was hedonistic, almost Cognac like, lots of sugar. This variety I would save as an apertif. Yummy.
I always maintain to anyone who cares to listen that you are a man of immense taste Matt

Emjay, thanks for the nod. The best part of any of these events for me is sharing. This year 6 of my mates went with. Good fun.

By the way my friend Peter refers to me as M-J.
My initials.

Here is a whisky recommendation I will gladly make.

The first Welsh distillery to open in like a 100 years. PENDERYN.

It's shockingly good. Almost treacle like, mellow and velvety.

Amanda, I'm sorry you don't enjoy whisky. Without a doubt it's an acquired taste. Of all the foods and libations I've come to enjoy, whisky required due dilligence. First 4-5 times I drank it as a young man, I gotta say....jet fuel. Took time for my palete to understand it. Do you enjoy any of the simple spirits straight up?

Had to reply to this
The Balvennie for me is the best around.
Loads of people spoil a good whiskey with ice, water or coke. It should be drunk on its own slightly warm.

Go no Amanda try it
