Default Another petition.

Seem to have a bee in my bonnet regarding petitions these days...oh well.

Ok, Politically we on this forum are all as different in our opinions as anywhere else, what I feel is right others wont and vice versa and thats just fine.
What I feel isnt fine is our politicians of all persuasions doing just what they want via the means of deception, misdirection or plain good old lies without any comeback for the damages they invariably do.
Id like to hold them to account via the criminal justice system rather than simply voting them out of office to be replaced with yet more of the same next time around, hence my petition.

Have a nosey at it, hope youll all sign it and pass it around.

My petition and the actual text:

"Enact a law making deception and lying by politicians a criminal offence.

Politicians hold a priviliged position that has the potential to create damage to the welfare of the country and its populace when personal or party agendas take precedence. Using deceit, lies or misdirection to pass legislation or support a position is unacceptable and must stop.

No action is ever taken against politicians whose actions while in government damages the country physically, socially or financially. Basically politicians make it up as they go along, experimenting with aspects they dont grasp or have a personal axe to grind in doing so, example, Tony Blair and the unwritten mass immigration policy, David Camerons Lisbon Treaty referendum promise. Politicians need to be financially and personally accountable to the public, we need a law to hold them to."

Tony, 100% agree with you.
During recent pensions arguements with the government, a parliamentary debate in December 2014, Penny Mordaunt, the then Tory Fire Minister, gave a guarantee to MPs that a firefighter, over the age of 55, who fails a fitness test through no fault of their own, would receive a redeployed role or a full, unreduced pension.
This guarantee was repeated several times during the debate and subsequently by the secretary of state Eric Pickles in front of the DCLG committee in the House of Commons.
Significantly, it was on the basis of these assurances that the government won the vote in the Commons which introduced the new pension scheme.
So the FBU wrote to all fire authorities to confirm that they would implement this guarantee at local level. It soon became very clear that this wasn't the case.
Fire authorities confirmed they could not and would not guarantee a redeployed role or a full, unreduced pension in the circumstances set out and that any such decision was entirely at their discretion.
This was then confirmed by the full national employers.
Even more alarmingly we found out that the government had been informed that this would be the position by the London Fire Brigade prior to the debate in Parliament.
Parliament was misled. The 'guarantee' was used to quell opposition to the plans and to ensure the legislation passed through Parliament.
When this was raised with the appropriate bodies, it was not long before the 'nothing can be done about it' message came out. Apparently there is an ancient law which allows MP's to deliberately mislead Parliament.
It was clearly done here and over Iraq. And this makes one think how many more times have they lied.
So I'm definitely signing it.

EDIT: Spreading the word

Mind you , hope you realise this will help the Tory pledge to cut the number of MP's! It will also lead to even more overcrowding in prisons though

Have to agree...
It's an outrage that our so-called parliamentary leaders are even allowed to make promises to get our votes only to then go back on their word when they are elected.
What I find even more annoying is that when they are petitioned by the tax paying public over something or anything, they then have the power to decide the outcome; usually a no!
- this needs to be stopped.

I've signed

Once you get to the required number of petitioners then it has to be raised in parliament, however the phrase "turkeys voting for Christmas" springs to mind, but let's go for it

Signed because i totally agree and have been calling for this for a few years now.I'm sick to the back teeth of lying politicians.

If any one of us has been found out lying or misleading in an interview we would be immediately sacked during the probation period. Yet politicians are above this and have a rule that only applies to them. Just one of many examples. Cameron promised no more top down reorganisations of the NHS during the 2010 election campaign. There are many other lies! Yet when he won within weeks of entering no 10 he did just that! Of course Cameron and his cohorts are above the law anyway. One of the rules of being a member of the Oxford bulling don club is to trash local restaurants and then talk you way out of it. One other initiation is to " F**k a dead pig" Reported in the papers. The elites get away with this sort of behaviour but for the rest of us it would be straight before a magistrate.

I'm not averse to the overcrowding in prisons aspect. If they are willing to suck dry those that they misrepresent, then they deserve to be uncomfortably close to the rest of society's undesirables.
