Default Water in boot

I just got my 90 b2 on the road and found water in my boot. Does anyone else have or had this problem and is it a common fault

Need to try and sort it as got pram and stuff to go in there

From past experience, the "favourite" place for water ingress is around the rear light clusters. Remedy is to carefully remove light units, clean off old mastic and then re-install using appropriate new black mastic strips....some of the other guys will doubtless describe those strips more professionally.

I need a new set of rear lights so may as well see if can find new ones and replace rubber seal on them

Where can I get it shop wise or best ordering offline

Are your rear lights the same style as on the Audi 80 , if so I managed to get lenses for mine from a place in Germany, the bulb holders are a bit harder to find .....?

Not really corrected. It can be horrible stuff, which gets messy when very warm, Almost mastic like; and stiff and barely pliable when cold and mixed with 2-3 decades of grit. It does the job well, but once disturbed needs to be replaced or at least added to as it's usually well recessed into the grove.

Most body shops can't be bothered, though

My s6 has developed a similar ailment tyrewell had a litre or so of water,felt overlay soaking too,needs further investigations
