Thanks vorsprung durch technik
I really don't mind the odd disagreeing comment, and I'm generally a very patient and tolerant person, but having the same discussion over and over for what has been almost the entire weekend?, seriously? who needs it? So, anyways, lets get back to having some fun eh? Anyone else here got any hire car horror stories that they'd like to share? I could really do with some cheering up right now ![]() Last edited by leggy; 29-03-15 at 05:42 PM. |

![]() Well if you read the first line of my first reply to this thread, "I agree" is the bit that obviously passed you by. I wasn't actually talking to you in that post and have said nothing as any kind of personal attack aimed an anyone, any brand or age of car. But was and have been met with a pretty abrasive response ever since. I still have classic Audis... I still like them.... And if I was single I'd probably drive an 80 to be honest, but I won't reply again incase you flip out again. Something under the surface has driven your general tone with me and I'm guessng it's the increasing cost of keeping the old thing going, but I didn't mean to rile you. Just washed the kia, and am now eating a fish finger sandwich. Is that allowed? ![]() runs and hides.. |

I did read your first post and I didn't actually miss anything missfire, other than the fact that you took it upon yourself to simply barge in without talking to me, and then went off on a tangent about your own cars. Thread drift is one thing, but doing so without even acknowledging the OP or the OP subject is quite frankly, ill-mannered in my book, so if folk have treated you with an abrasive response, then you've only got yourself to blame.
Furthermore, my flipping out (as you put it!) had absolutely nothing to do with the increasing cost of keeping my car going (I'd give up my house to pay for it's upkeep such is my devotion, and I almost did two years ago, but that's another story for another time!), but rather more to do with the fact that I had stated several times that neither your Kia or your chosen topics were/are of interest to me, and as politely as I could, but you blatantly chose to ignore this fact and decided instead to turn 'my thread' in to something that was positively 'all about you!'. Had you simply expressed your opinion just the once and had then responded in a manner (to my reply) whereby agreeing to disgree would have avoided such a conflict, then maybe I would not have felt the need to be riled. Your apology however is appreciated, and so long as we can agree to disagree without anymore drama, well there is no need for you to run and hide. ![]() Last edited by leggy; 01-04-15 at 06:27 PM. WTFook are you talking about?
So thread drift, which often results in amazing exchanges of views and information, with thousands of problems solved on here every year (for free), through cross reference from many areas of work, life, experience, is now bad manners.. No exactly, I wasn't talking to you. It's a forum, not a land line. You'll get the idea one day. ![]() Back to subject, as thread drift is now illegal, I've only ever hired one car, jeep wrangler, took it offroad in all kinds of razor sharp volcanic terrain, then drove through a puddle in a residential area, and burst a £500 tyre on a bit of someonne elses sump. That's the only story I have. Luckily I had purchased tyre insurance, so I didn't have to pay for it.. The world would be pretty boring if we all towed the line, would it not? ![]() |

Bloody hell. Perish the thought. But I think we're safe; they can't build Kias quite that quickly.

I've been reading this thread with great interest for the last half hour, here are some thoughts....
Kia = tool Audi = car Quote:
I have a daughter 14 months old, but I don't compromise on what I drive because of that. She gets to travel in comfort and style, and in a solid car which I feel keeps me, my wife and my daughter safe. I would rather crash in an Audi, than crash in anything made in China, Japan, Korea or France for that matter. I know this from personal experience. If any of you had been witness to the crash I had in my 1986 80 Sport a few years ago, you would understand how I feel in an Audi. Had I been driving anything less (and modern) I would be dead. Simple as. So you can show me all the crash tests you like on youtube, but in real life it's a whole lot different, and I wouldn't trust my life to any other car make. Just because Leggy doesn't have children doesn't mean she would compromise if she had. You can keep your 12 year anti rust warranty and whatever else they throw at you to make you think you're getting a great deal, none of that means shit when you're facing down the barrel of a crash. It is of course, all personal choice, missfire you make yours, and others of us will make ours. We shouldn't be berated for that, but you will never convince me that a Kia is a better car than any of the classics that we own. |
