Good day this year and jammy with the weather too. Never won anything in the show and shine but I'd have to have spent another few hours on it or trailored it down but far rather have enjoyed the drive down any day
Got down from Wirral, drove to gala dinner at Swindon and then all way back on a tank of fuel with 2 gallons to spare. Worked out it averaged at least 30mpg. That included some spirited driving in between the fog patches at 1am. was surprised by the police as I was down to 40mph at one stage and police car volvo went past at 70. He either had night vision or was a complete Kn**
Some good cars on display too this year and quite a few offs on track too, especially the S3

No it was a run out model, specced as an 80GL 1.8 really, but with black external trim and no chrome as per Sport and the areo wheel trims as fitted to 80 quattro. It also had the four spoke steering wheel

Car of the show for me (as it has been for the past few years as well!) is Glenn Canning's NSU TT which really is a pocket rocket! He's a very capable driver which does help, but watching a little 1200 TT going past S2's, S3's, S4's etc always makes me smile!

Had a very good chat with him as his car really is an inspiration to the one I have and was surprised at just how much power and handling has been got for very little outlay.

Twins spark set up using a Renault Vanette dizzy with a home made adaptor. Pair of 40 webers, TTS cam and a custom stainless exhaust to match the factory racing ones. Ported and gas flowed and that's about it.
When I asked him about the suspension, thinking I was going to be shelling out the thick end of £900 on a set of Bilsteins, he told me the secret to the cars good handling was 1 1/2 coils cut off each spring and that was it!! Factory shocks still in place!!
