I'll try and find a part number but the one on mine looks pretty much like any other 100 dizzy. Is it a drive gear problem or something? Have you tried blinking out the codes from the ECU? Nice cars.

Default Audi 100 turbo distributor wanted

I have cars coming out of my ears which are all time consuming ha.
I have a part number for the distributor it's 0237522011.

The car itself only starts when it wants to and when it runs its very lumpy when revved. I've renewed all the obvious stuff dizzy cap, plugs leads, ignition module so I'm now aiming for a distributor as that's one component that can be problematic.
If any one has got one it would be much appreciated and I don't expect it for nothing.

Many thanks

Looks like that dizzy is common to all 100/200/quattros etc.

I think this is one -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Distributor-.../dp/B006059FBY

I think you number is maybe a bosch number, audi number is this - 035905206AF

Maybe someone can confirm, but the symptoms could be just about anything with these damned things! Is there an erratic spark?

Yes, it is common to all A10's, A200's and all Quattro's - all examples which have 10vt engines under the bonnet. Unlike NA engines, turbos have impulse wheel which only have one window, not five, as dizzy hall sender only provides cam sync signal.

I like this kind of repair - expensive one - when everything is changed, until it works. This time it won't be dizzy, however, because that hall sender is used only once per "session" - at start to allow ECU to determine when it's TDC at 1st pot at the end of compression stroke, afterwards ECU calculates timing by counting flywheel tooth, with no need for dizzy hall sender. If cover and arm has been changed and there's no excessive axial movement, there's nothing that could be blamed on it, unless it has been changed to 2.3 10v 5 window dizzy, but I doubt that it's possible.

Thanks missfire and msh for the usefull answers.

Sounds like im barking up the wrong tree with the dizzy then.

I bought the car as a non runner with suspected fuel metering valve failure...I managed to find a fuel metering valve which did spark the engine into life.
Now when going to start it there is sometimes a spark but more often no spark at all??
When it does fire up it is quite lumpy when revved.

Its in my local well trusted garage but i think theyre clutching at straws as they dont have much knowledge on the 10vt audi.

Anything else it could be??

Your right msh it is an expensive way to try and fix things

THE site for bedtime reading -

http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/mb_engine.html

That's for the MB engine, yours is MC but very similar (what year the car is would help, later ones have two knock sensors and I think a different ECU, MAC 14, I don't know what ECU is in the earlier MC)

Fault code reading -

http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quat.../mac12pin.html

Not the same ECU but same fault codes I think.

THE equally good site for your engine -

http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...g/trouble.html

The dropdown box from the diagnostics tab on the header menu on that page had lots of goodies in it!

Happy hunting, but I'd be getting the fault codes out before doing anything else. I pull my codes with the help of a paper clip and a 1.2v instrument lamp, blink them out from the diagnostic connectors under the dash, easier to do than it is to explain but both sites describe how to initiate them. With all respect to the local garage, they probably won't fix it unless they read a lot of that stuff first!

.

Hi misfire, msh

Thanks again for the info. And I will try the engine codes.

You sent me a link for a new distributor on amazon but this one looks like its for a 2.3 not a 2.2 turbo. Or is this one compatible it doesn't say so in the ad. Would this one have the impulse wheel with 5 windows and not one which is the one I need?

Pardon my ignorance as I really don't know much about these engines but I just want to make sure I get the right one.

If the ad says "B3/B4", it's not the right one.

Anyway, how about checking the existing one? Is it really hard to inspect it and test hall sender with LED?

Yep, will be the wrong one, it just came up on a '100 distributor' search! The right ones are around but not going cheap, found a few in europe and usa, but.. a bit expensive.
