Hi all,
If you had an engine built from scratch, and you asked the engine builder for 180bhp spec, and after rolling road tune showed 155bhp, is that expected? |

wheels or flywheel??
180 at the flywheel could equate to 155 at the wheels on a rolling road. |

flywheel, wheels 122bhp.
Engine builer said set ignition @ 30 deg @ 3500rpm, Rolling road tuner said 30 deg ignition would loose power, so i think it was set at about 25ish, engine builder says that mild and he should have set @ 30 and took it to 7500 rpm, not as he droped off @ 6500 rpm |

![]() As long as you're not doing as builder says, you cannot blame him. Anyway, is it 8v engine? Does it have carb or L-jet? Vacuum ignition? |

8v, twin45's no vacuum. I think it needs more running in, and more advance on ignition, trouble is finding good rolling tuners |

You will also get large variations from dyno to dyno depending on calibration factors etc.
Did you try the ignition timing the guy the built the engine suggested? It is actually being tuned on a dyno, or just tested for output? I would have thought you want to keep advancing timing until MBT, then retard a couple of degrees for safety (whilst listening very carefully for knock).
