Default A4 avant quattro damaged

i have the above ,which has been involved in an accident ,the other party concerned have accepted liabilty and now the insurance have offered me either
£1,800 or
£1,400 with my car back
it was in very good condition for the year , however it has done 190,000 miles, which doesn't bother me but the figure they have given reflects this.
my own feelings are to keep the car and have the repair done myself, assuming there is no structural damage.
would anyone have any idea of the potential cost of having this repair completed?
your thoughts and opinions would be very much appreciated
many thanks --chris

The a4 2.8q was classed as a total loss, and i have a choose of either, the car back with £1,386 (which is -23% of the overall offer to be exact, as per the valuers calculation) OR £1,800. This is the slighty annoying part the labour was £987, and 2 scratched wheels were £480,out of the total estimate of £2,332,hence the reason for "total loss"
As it was a cat C ,i would need to have it repaired to get it back on the road, and have a VIC (vehicle identity check) done ,then the possible problem of re-insuring it?. I know that it could probably be repaired fairly cheaply but i don't think i can be bothered and it gives me a chance to change the car , whilst getting a half decent price for it.
the a4 has 190,000 miles on so in all honesty £1,800
i don't think is that bad a deal??, + it's a buyers market at the moment, so i am probably edging towards taking the money and running, what do you think?

back in the 1980's I had a similar deal on offer and took the cash and they wrote off my Audi 80 with all the extras, wish I'd kept in, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I imagine you are waiting for someone to tell you to take the cash, so take it

yes insurance companies are very quick m8 , 3 years ago my son had a rare 1.1 16valve rover 25 in dark blue metallic, with 28k on mileage insurance with hasting, the car took a bump to the front wing and rad broken thay write the car of before it got to repair shop and without my knowledge took it to a holding depot down in dover, i fond out after the car was a cat d write off and it cost the new owner 300 to put the car back on the road the annoying thing was the car had fully adjustable spax front and back and all polybushes throughout, i feel totally stictched up and never will go back to this insurance company
