WR Quattro - downpipe flex piece

Hi guys,

I need a new downpipe flex piece, but Pete Reeve (quattrocorner) tells me it's obsolete.

I believe i'm not the only one in the World that need a new one. What do other people do?

The original partnumber is 437 253 817

The car was a barn find, and had been standing there since 1990. No rust at all, but tired from standing.
I am soon done restoring the car, but some bits and pieces still missing. A former owner destroyed the flex piece (dont know why or how). It cant be used any more.

Well, in this part of the world where I am, when someone has a problem with exhaust that can't be fixed by welding equipment alone, he walks into nearest cart store and choose universal exhaust parts which could be welded together to achieve desired result.

But presuming we're talking about the part which connects wastegate to downpipe, it seems that you're wrong and it is available, only it's damn expensive - my 2005 ETKA shows the part number not 437 253 817 but 437 253 817 A, and, when searching that code in website of parts store I trust, it returns not "part code not found", but "437253817A ABGASROHR VAG 117.36 Ls" instead - that's about 150 euros. Knowing the difference in prices between that store and VAG dealers, you can pay a visit to nearest VW or Audi dealer and ask for part with that code, only expect to pay, let's say, 250 euros.

I know how to weld, and I know where to buy it overpriced.

In my part of the world the money is not hanging from the trees, that's why i'm trying to find the best affordable solution.

How much difference is there between the item on the WR with the 437xxxxxxA number, and that on the RR, and 100s4, with 857xxxxxx?

Contacting mr Peter Chimes at Edinburgh Audi parts department may be a help, also

Well, it's time to fire up the welding equipment then. That 20vt part, even if fits, costs even slightly more. So, use your imagination, got one of these and start to weld.

I will be in a similar position one day, as might a lot of folks.

The flexible pipe in question has an internal straight pipe secured at one end. Over time, they get a bit eaten away. on my car, it had become detached.
when the day comes that the pipe starts to fail, or before if I can get other jobs sorted beforehand, I will likely get a flexible section of hose like the stuff in the link, and have a pipe made.

I'd hazard a guess that a decent aftermarket exhaust shop could make one, or provide the bits.

Alternatively, I could get something made to dump to atmosphere
