Default Audi 80 B2 1981 - 1800 Sport engine/R6 carbs/low
Seller Type : Private
Vehicle Make : Audi
Vehicle Model : b2
Price : 1800
Location : Lincoln

For sale, my beloved Audi 80 b2. 1981. I have owned this car for over three years now, and it has spent the last 18 months of it's life off the road being worked on. With 94,000k on the clock (new clocks state 90k, but old originals included in sale). The engine was originally 1600 stock, and I have built a replacement engine. This is a 1.8DS unit from a 90k mile car, the block was bathed and cleaned fully as was the 1.8 DZ sport head which I have mated to it. All items were then installed to either new or refurbished components. The wheels are probably my favourite part, they are PowerTech 15x8's (Not MIM's which they look similar to) these are mega rare and I've trauled ebay uk/de and sites such as wheel whores to get info on them, they are no longer made, and I've yet to see another set for sale no matter on another car. I'd value these alone at 500 once refurbed.

The good bits:
Engine sound, run in post refurb. Doesn't use oil or water so far, so good. Once setup I imagine would generate around 120bhp. The suspension (which is rather awkward to lower) I have chopped 85mm out of the front struts and replaced the lowered dampers with Custom made GAZ items, which are damping adjustable, with some matching springs - this makes the front now height adjustable to a very low standard. (tyre on arch!) Rear suspension is a mere 4 years and circa 5000 miles old. The brake setup is now Corrado G60 callipers and discs, again these do not fit as standard and a lot of work went in to making the hubs accept these callipers.
The interior is a really nice place to be, the leather although aging is comfy, and the steering wheel (worth 150 alone + boss new) is a great finishing piece. The engine bay although not show winning is clean and presentable, good paint and details here. So to sum up, a car which has so much potential, has some really nice trick bits on it, looks the part and really nice to drive with powerful brakes.

The bad bits:
Being as honest as I can with this as I have put so much work in I know every flaw, but I am also a bit picky so I do see them! The paint, was sprayed by me using a professional gun and compressor, but it is far from perfect, a cool satin hard core paint yes, a mint show stopper: no. All door shuts and boot/under bonnet are done and apart from some 'awkward to reach areas' it looks good.
The wheels, although refurbed a mere two years ago, have started to crack in places and could do with a sand down/blow over.

To finish the car off the R6 carbs fitted to the engine have NOT been setup, I've merely got the car running, and although it runs and drives ok, it does need tuning and jetting by someone who knows what they are doing. This will make the car pull better and run great. I also have a rear disc setup from a Mk2 golf Gti with two sets of callipers to choose from to fit. Hubs the lot. Plus camber shims for a giggle and additional camber which will enable 6mm spacers to be fitted to the rear too for a bit more poke.

Stop hiding in the garage, and start seeing my family/stop irritating the wife?! Lol. I need to go back to a 'bolt on mod' style car rather than one which requires less tinkering and I feel at this point the car is at its best to sell it. Clean, no scratches etc...

I used to have a Nissan 200sx, and I'm very into my jap motors. A friend who is a big Soarer fan has his 7th Soarer and in his words 'the best he has ever owned' to which I replied 'when you sell, I want it!' And he has decided to sell. So 2.5l TT Soarer it is for me. Bomb proof reliability as stock, rwd and 280hp. So. Sadly, the Audi has to go.

Passed MOT.

However this does not change the fact this in my eyes is a rolling project, the carbs desperately need a full setup.

Deleted. Oil leak was false alarm, was just the oil filter take off. Will simply reseal it.

Such a shame that your selling on so early after blood, sweat and no doubt tears and have not had the short summer that we have in the UK to enjoy it a little. I've liked the frequent updates that you've shared along the way, I do hope you change your mind but if not good luck with the sale

Well, interest has calmed... Anyone think I'm asking too much?

Might drop it a bit soon...

From the pics the cars looks worth every penny of your original asking price, unless you are desperate to sell just now hold firm and the right buyer will come along.......
