Hi I wonder if someone could help both my father and I have old audi's his is a 93 100 and mine is a 92 80.
Both are running pink g12 anti freeze and I've just been online and bought some for topping up both cars but bought purple G12+ by mistake. Can I use g12+ purple with G12 pink. Regards Vince |

Personally I'd flush the lot and put BLUE in them.
Does it not say on the bottle what it's ok to mix with? If both are the OAT stuff then can't see it being a problem....this might help? (http://www.btctag.org/info_/publ/btc06_637_p.pdf) ....or not ! |

G12+ can be mixed with the older G11 or G12. Just don't mix G11 and G12.
Dealers are now selling G13

When your S2 was new, it was filled with G11 from the factory.

Thanks for the help guys, I've now looked under the bonnet of my 80 and my A4 and my parents 100 and all the cars are running on pink G12.
The 80 had a recent cambelt change so I think that's why it's using G12 also my parents old 100 also had a belt change at audi a few years back so I guess audi must have just used G12 at the same time as that was the recommended antifreeze at the time but now G12+ purple has superseded it. Also my old A4 shed is running pink G12 but being that its only 18 years old its most probably on the original stuff lol. It looks like its ok to use the G12+ as its designed to be compatable with g11 and g12 it just means when topping up it will be a purple/pink colour rather than pink. As someone said earlier you should never mix the pink G12 with blue G11 but the purple G12+ is ok to mix with both the blue and pink. |

The links below are worth a read........
http://www.blauparts.com/vw/vw_fluid...ne_fluid.shtml http://www.da7c.co.uk/technical_torq...antifreeze.htm I'm dubious about the whole G11 G12 thing (no G13-are they superstitious and so called it G12+) . Could it just be a money making plan ![]() |
