Default 2012 Lime Rock Park Vintage Races and Show

A few choice shots from this year’s, fabulous Lime Rock Park, Vintage Race and Car Show. I would have had these up sooner but Photobucket was having a conniption this afternoon.
Collective members of our local NEVAC (North Eastern Vintage Audi Club) , as well as contributors to this Classic forum and other Audi, and Quattro based forums, showed up Sunday morning for a track arrayed with 100’s of vintage cars and a gathering of the marques from around the world. As always there was a Concours with the best of the breeds, and a few guests. This year, Sir Stirling Moss graciously visited our side of the Pond, and signed multitudes of autographs and spread his genuine good will around to all.
As Jaguar continues to celebrate its Anniversary, they had a heavy presence on the field, and in the vendor areas. If you signed up early, they were offering patrons the chance to test drive the entire Jaguar line. I had the good fortune to sign up at 9am sharp Sunday morning for the 1st spin in the brand new Jaguar XK-RS. All I can say, is at 550 horsepower, this luxury GT car does not disappoint on any level. The torque and linear acceleration is so dramatic, I nearly swallowed a filling. What treat to drive on the fringe.
Some of the other stand outs this year, an original Port Rose Metallic UrQ, a decked out Pearl White D1 chassis V8 sitting on boleros and trimmed out with the best goodies from the VAG line. Rob (Teach)brought the two ‘74’s. Driggs rumbled in early in his tornado red ‘84 4000s Quattro and Zoli in his mars red UrQ. The C4 chassis was well represented, and Matt’s (mixtery) Alpine type 85 rolled in with the new baby seat installed in the back.
A big thanks to everyone who showed up, you know who you are.
And, last but not least Keith (qu4ttro) for arriving a day and a half earlier to set up a truly excellent base camp, and shady get away from the heat of the track. Food and beverages abounded, and a good time was had by all.

So I am realllllly going to miss some of you guys. Over the past year and half Ive made some really good friends and come close to tears when I think about it.

If I talked to you for more than 2 minutes then you are in that group.

Some of you I will see before I leave (Zoli, Matt and Keith), and some I wont. But I want you to know that I hope to see you at Carlisle. Lets make 2013 the biggest and best yet. Get off your lazy butts. Rob, the kids are old enough to enjoy Carlisle. Ill rent them a bouncy castle of their own to just hang out in.

Anywho, heres my asshat load of images.

The feeling is mutual Mike.
It looks like Carlisle will be Mecca next year.
This past 2 years has been really great. With each day, each show, the vintage Audi scene here has really come together, and not just on the forums.

Soon, we need to send a posse to the UK!

Yup! I really wanted the plates me they were off a b2. Once I install the rear bumper and then find a European plate "tub" I'll have a complete European recreation car

Oh, and I was majorly impressed, thought someone had shifted it over the pond for the show. Looks as though there were many interesting cars there!
