Default Water in left and right side of boot on Coupe

Do the rear light clusters have a habbit of leaking on B4 coupes? There is a bucket type thing under the carpet on the right hand side always full of water and the spare wheel well is always wet too on the left side. The middle remains dry so I don't think it can be the boot seal.

This is a common problem.

Remove the rear lights and reseal them

I've heard that it's a good way how to have leaky rear lights + rust around them, as the silicon is based on acid or something like that. In any case, the rear lights are intended to be seated on a material like this

In the worst case I would use window glue, with full understanding that it would be unlikely to get them out in one piece again
