Yes - I use the words sender and sensor interchangeably. Just had a look at ETKA and Audi seem to use the word 'sender' if it's analogue (i.e. drives a gauge) and 'switch' if it's digital (lights a lamp/sounds a buzzer). They both bolt to the engine block - the senders are chunky cylindrical affairs; the switches are much smaller.
ETKA shows that the 1991 7A in the Coupe quattro has: 035 919 561 - oil pressure gauge sender - 0-5/0,3BAR 056 919 081 E - oil pressure switch - 1,8BAR The 035 919 561 is obviously double function as it has a 0-5 bar analogue sensor that must drive the gauge, and a 0.3 bar digital sensor that must drive the lamp/buzzer. I'm guessing you also have: 893 919 551 - oil pressure gauge - 0-5 BAR and: 443 919 082 (B) - oil pressure warning relay - location 6 This will probably light a lamp and/or make a buzz if the oil pressure drops below 1.8 bar at some engine speed like 2,000 rpm or above, or if it drops below 0.3 bar at any rpm. Can't remember the exact algorithm - do a google search. You should then be able to decide exactly which component is at fault. |
